Chapter 126 Are You Here to Fight?
Luis’s POV:
I stared at the woman on the hospital bed and forced my voice to sound calm. “A few days ago.”
On the phone, I had heard Deanna say she was waiting for me to come home.
I cut a week’s trip down to three days just so I could surprise her.
From the moment I boarded the plane to the moment I landed, I didn’t rest. I had the driver take me straight to Zedowood.
But when I reached her place, she wasn’t there. I called her hundreds of times–no answer.
I couldn’t believe it. To see my girlfriend, I had to send my men to track her down.
What a joke!
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I took a step closer.
Deanna lowered her head. “My phone broke.”
I gave a sharp laugh, eyes locked on her face. “Deanna, you were rescued and woke up a whole week ago. Your phone was broken for a week? And after you woke up, you never thought to tell me?”
Deanna lifted her head. “This isn’t a big deal. I didn’t want to bother you.”
“Not a big deal?” My face darkened. The force of my alpha presence burst out, no longer controlled.
“You were kidnapped. You fell off a cliff and almost died. And you call that not a big deal?”
“Why are you so upset?” Deanna frowned at me. “Just because I didn’t tell you right away that I was kidnapped?”
I almost laughed from rage.
“So I don’t matter at all? I don’t deserve to know? Not even when you’re hurt?”
Deanna’s POV:
Yes, my phone had broken. Kathryn had someone send me a new one the very next day.
Why didn’t I tell him?
Because it wasn’t necessary.
I didn’t know if he was back in the country.
I have no idea if another woman might pick up his call this time.
And honestly, I was about to break up with him. What was the point of saying anything?
Still, when he snapped at me, my eyes burned and filled with tears. My chest tightened with hurt, and those tears rolled down from my face.

I sniffed and said, “I didn’t say that. But if you’re here just to pick a fight, then come back another day. I’m not in the mood today.”
Luis’s POV:
Haha!
She thinks I came here to fight?
When I heard she’d been kidnapped and fallen off a cliff, I panicked for the first time in my life.
I rushed straight to the hospital.
Even when I heard Jake was the one who saved her, I didn’t care.
I just wanted her safe. Nothing else mattered.
And now she told me I came here to fight with her?
A crushing weight pressed against my chest, stealing my breath.
I wanted to grab her by the chin and shake some sense into her–but I stopped.
Because right then, I realized how pathetic I must look.
The mix of anger and frustration burned in my chest, but I couldn’t get a single word out. So I turned and walked toward the door.
Just as I reached it, a soft cough came from behind me. I froze. My lips pressed into a hard line, veins popping on my hand as I clenched my fist.
Fuck my pride. Forget about control.
The next second, I spun around and crossed the room in two long strides.
I grabbed the back of her head. Then, I lowered my head and kissed her fiercely.
All the fear, anger, and relief of getting her back alive poured into that kiss.
I bit her lip, my breath uneven, desperate, almost wild–like I could pull her into my very bones.
Deanna sat on the bed, her head tilted back, breath catching. Her hands pressed weakly against my chest, but her touch was so light it felt like a kitten’s pawing. Her resistance made me want her more.
Just as I started unbuttoning her gray hospital gown with practiced ease, there came a sharp knock at the door.
“Ms. Wiley, it’s time for your injection.”
The door was pushed open. Instead of letting go, I pressed even closer and deepened the kiss.
Behind me came the sound of the nurses gasping.
That finally snapped Deanna out of it. She shoved me away, her face turning crimson, even her ears glowing red.
I looked at how flustered she looked. Reluctantly, I pulled back and used my thumb to wipe the moisture from the corner of her lips.
