Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 204

**Chapter 204: Come Home**

**Luis’s POV:**

“She’s concealing something from us.”

Griffin’s words reverberated in my mind, a persistent echo that refused to fade away.

I had sensed it long before he voiced his suspicions. But instead of confronting the issue, I chose to observe Deanna in silence for a few fleeting moments, allowing the weight of her secret to hang in the air between us.

As soon as she shut the car door behind her, I pressed the accelerator firmly and sped away, the engine roaring to life beneath me. One hand gripped the steering wheel with determination, while the other rested casually against the window frame. My gaze flickered to the rearview mirror, and there she was—striding confidently toward the building, her back turned to me, oblivious to my watchful eyes.

A soft chuckle escaped my lips, a mix of amusement and intrigue.

So, she had left Bluewave Studio and returned to Mistbane Group, had she? I couldn’t help but doubt that her departure was as uncomplicated as she portrayed it.

If I wanted to, I could easily instruct my team to dig deeper, to uncover the truth behind her abrupt transition. Yet, I refrained. I wanted her to be the one to share her story, to let me in on the details when she was ready.

At that moment, my phone buzzed from the console, breaking my train of thought. I glanced at the screen—Ruth.

I tapped the steering wheel a few times in a rhythm, contemplating whether to answer. Finally, I connected the call to the car’s audio system.

Her voice filled the space, clear and authoritative. “Luis, you’ve been back from Euron for quite a while now. Why haven’t you made your way home?”

I shrugged nonchalantly, turning the steering wheel with practiced ease. “I had some matters to attend to yesterday.”

“Then make your way back to the pack today. I need an update on the Euron factory situation,” she insisted, her tone leaving no room for argument.

“Understood.” I pressed down harder on the gas, feeling the car surge forward as if it understood the urgency of my mission.

Upon my arrival at the office, I was immediately swept into a whirlwind of meetings that seemed to stretch endlessly.

By the time the afternoon sun hung low in the sky, I found myself positioned at the head of the conference table, fatigue creeping into my bones. My eyes flitted between the presentation slides projected on the wall and the phone lying temptingly on the desk, its screen void of any notifications.

The silence was deafening; not a single message had come through all day.

During a brief intermission, I leafed through the latest investment report, trying to find solace in the numbers. Around me, a few senior executives were huddled together, their voices barely above whispers, punctuated by stifled laughter.

Though they attempted to keep their conversation discreet, my acute hearing caught every word.
