Ruth chuckled softly. “You brat, don’t tease me like that.”

I straightened up, the humor fading from my face. “What did the doctors say?”

She sighed. “It’s nothing serious. I’m just worried about Grant. He must’ve heard that I’m sick and thinks there’s a chance to stir up trouble inside the pack. He’s been restless lately.”

I didn’t even lift my eyes, my voice cool and sharp. “Don’t worry. He won’t get far.”

Grant had built his own pack in Euron over the past 20 years, and business was booming- ough half of it was dirty work tied to the underworld. Ruth was right. He was ruthless, angerous, and reckless.

This latest move of his was just a warning to Mooncrown Pack—a reminder of the old grudge he still carried.

A faint smirk tugged at my lips.

“You’d better focus on getting better. Because if something happens to you, I can’t promise what kind of chaos I’ll turn Mooncrown Pack into.”

“You arrogant brat!” she said, exasperated.

Ruth took a deep breath and continued. “Luis, my last wish is to see Mooncrown Pack and Blackcreek Pack united by marriage. You and Ms. Burn should set a date this year. Once it’s official, those greedy branch families won’t dare to act out anymore.”

I raised my eyes halfway, reached for the cup of tea on the table, and took a sip. Then I set it down lazily and glanced at the maid who was brewing another pot nearby.

“This tea’s bitter.”

The maid stiffened, trembling.
