Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 241

**Chapter 241: The Name She Smiled For**

**Deanna’s POV:**

My cheek rested against his chest, the rhythmic thumping of his heartbeat resonating violently beneath my ear. It was a sound that seemed to echo my own turmoil. His arms, though strong, trembled slightly as they encircled me, holding me in a grip that felt both protective and desperate.

It was as if he feared that I might vanish into thin air if he loosened his hold, and I could sense the weight of his anxiety pressing down on me. The rich, earthy scent of cedar mingled with a faint trace of alcohol enveloped us, creating an intoxicating atmosphere that left me feeling almost breathless.

Trapped against his solid form, I struggled to shift even an inch. My hands weakly pushed against his arm, trying to create some space between us. “Luis, what are you doing?” I managed to whisper, my voice barely breaking through the thick tension that filled the air.

“Let me go,” I insisted, my tone firmer this time, but it felt like a plea lost in the storm of emotions swirling around us.

After what felt like an eternity, the pressure around me lessened, though he still held me close, his gaze piercing down at me. I could feel the intensity of his eyes, deep and heavy, like a dark current pulling me into its depths, making it hard to breathe as I struggled against the weight of his unspoken thoughts.

Then, his gaze drifted lower, settling on my stomach, and I saw his brows furrow in confusion and concern. The commotion outside the operating room had clearly revealed the truth to him—he must have learned about the pregnancy and the subsequent decision I had made.

Luis stared at me for what felt like an eternity before finally breaking the silence. His voice was low and rough, each word heavy with emotion. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

I averted my eyes, unable to bear the intensity of his stare. “We already broke up,” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper, filled with a mix of regret and resignation.

Luis’s lips twisted into a smile that was more painful than angry, a reflection of the turmoil brewing inside him. “So what? Does that mean I don’t get a say? You were just going to end my child’s life without even telling me?”

His voice rose, echoing off the walls, drawing the attention of those nearby, their curious whispers wrapping around us like a suffocating shroud.

My cheeks burned with embarrassment. This was not a scene I wanted to play out in front of an audience.

“Let go of me,” I repeated, my voice firmer, but the desperation in my heart was palpable.

When he still didn’t release me, I blurted out, “I didn’t do it, okay?” The words tumbled out, unplanned but urgent.

Just half an hour ago, I had been lying on that cold, sterile metal table, my heart racing as the two doctors exchanged clinical remarks. Their words had grated on my nerves, yet they lingered in my mind like a haunting melody I couldn’t shake off.

As they prepared to administer the anesthesia, I had felt a sudden wave of clarity wash over me. Maybe it wasn’t a sudden change of heart. Perhaps I had been wrestling with this decision long before that moment, pretending I was ready to go through with it.

What if I raised the baby alone? I had the means to do it. I didn’t need anyone else. As long as I severed ties with the Mooncrown Pack, this child would be mine and mine alone. I could do this. I could raise it just fine.

With newfound determination, I sat up abruptly and declared, “I’m not doing it.”
