**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**
**Chapter 259: Losing Control**
**Deanna’s POV:**
I felt a lump form in my throat, a tightness that made it hard to breathe.
What if I admitted that I didn’t like this moment? Would he lash out at me in anger?
Luis’s gaze pierced through the air, unwavering and intense. “Deanna, this is a gift for you—for being pregnant.”
My eyes fell to the floor, unable to meet his gaze.
In that instant, clarity washed over me.
Everything he had arranged, all the extravagant details, was meant for the baby.
I managed a muted, “Oh,” devoid of any real enthusiasm.
Luis cupped my cheeks with both hands, his touch warm and possessive, and he gently coaxed my lips upward, forcing a semblance of a smile from me. “Why don’t I see any joy in your eyes?”
All I could muster was a strained, artificial grin, a mask I wore to placate him.
Luis let out a deep, frustrated sigh. “Ms. Wiley, you are truly a challenge to please.”
I stepped into the room, placing the bouquet of roses I had been clutching into the vast sea of vibrant flowers that surrounded me.
In the next moment, I felt his arms encircle me from behind, his chin resting lightly atop my head. His voice, soft yet tinged with an unexpected vulnerability, broke the silence. “Don’t push me away tonight, okay? Just for tonight.”
My heart raced, a flutter of emotions stirring within me.
Above, I could hear Luis’s languid, seductive voice, drawing me in.
“Do you know why this place is called D Hotel?”
“The ‘D’ stands for Deanna, my Deanna. I built it for you.”
His words struck me like a warm wave, flooding my chest with an overwhelming rush of emotion that made my eyes prick with unshed tears.
I blinked rapidly, trying to regain my composure, and whispered, “But this hotel was built three years ago. You didn’t know me then.”
“We met once at a banquet three years ago.”
“Don’t tell me you fell for me at first sight and then decided to build an entire hotel in my honor?”
Yeah, right. I wasn’t buying into that fairy-tale fantasy.
Luis regarded me with a knowing smile, a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. “Deanna, don’t you want to know who the girl was that first took Puddy in?”
My mind went blank for a moment, confusion swirling within me.
