Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 260

**Chapter 260: The Curse**

Luis staggered back into the embrace of the Mooncrown Pack, his mind teetering on the edge of madness, a mere whisper of sanity remaining.

With a thunderous crash, he burst through the imposing obsidian doors, the heavy sound reverberating through the hollow halls behind him.

“Alpha!” The Beta guard’s voice barely escaped his lips before Luis’s formidable Alpha energy surged forth, a wild tempest that sent the guard sprawling to the ground, helpless against the force of his command.

“Get out!” Luis roared, his voice transformed into a guttural growl, a low, feral sound that echoed his inner turmoil.

He stumbled toward the stone bed at the heart of the chamber, a place designed for the most powerful of the Mooncrown Pack. With frantic urgency, he secured his wrists and ankles in the rune-etched chains of icy silver, the cold metal biting into his skin.

Click.

The chains locked into place, imprisoning him in this chamber steeped in history. The walls bore the scars of past battles, old bloodstains and claw marks telling tales of anguish and transformation.

Luis collapsed onto the unforgiving stone bed, his body wracked with convulsions as his veins pulsed with a fiery agony. It felt as though his very essence was being ripped apart from the inside out, a torment that echoed the suffering of his grandfather and father before him.

Did Grandpa and Dad endure this same horrific pain?

Outside the iron door, Alina and the pack doctors stood in a state of anxious anticipation, their hearts heavy with dread. Even through the thick barrier, the haunting howls and the jarring clank of chains could be heard, a symphony of despair that sent chills down their spines.

“Alpha! Are you alright?” Alina’s voice trembled, filled with concern.

Luis lacked the strength to respond, his body consumed by the curse. Black fur erupted beneath his skin, bones cracked and shifted, and his once warm amber eyes now glowed with a terrifying bloodshot hue.

Just then, Ruth rushed in, supported by servants, her cane tapping against the floor with urgency.

“What has caused this sudden change?” she demanded, her voice edged with panic as she sought answers from the doctors.

An older doctor, beads of cold sweat glistening on his forehead, replied in a hushed tone, “Mrs. Eaton, these are the warning signs of the curse. This is the first time the Alpha has exhibited these symptoms, but if he can endure this initial phase, he may yet be alright.”

His gaze flickered nervously, and he added, “However, after the Alpha turns twenty-five, it will only become more difficult to manage.”

Ruth’s grip on her cane tightened, anguish flashing in her eyes.

Long ago, her mate had led the Gamma wolves to obliterate the Southern Sacred Witch Grove, a decision that had enraged the ancient witch guarding it. With her dying breath, she had unleashed the full force of the curse under the light of the full moon.

At first, the pack had dismissed the curse as mere superstition.

But Ruth had witnessed the transformation of her beloved mate, the strong Alpha she had known, twisted into a monstrous form beneath the full moon’s glow.

Then, the curse had come for her son.

She had been powerless, watching in horror as the two most cherished men in her life struggled in agony, losing themselves to the darkness until the elders had no choice but to end their suffering.
