Deanna’s POV:

Last time, I said I’d sign the deal for Mistbane Pack and Mooncrown Pack, but only if Philip handed me 30% of the company’s

shares.

But, he backed out right after. Now he claims he’ll only give them officially to me once I go through with the ceremony with Jake.

I’d fallen for his tricks once before. There was no way I’d be that dumb again.

Philip choked on his words when I pressed him.

Quickly, he put on a serious, heartfelt expression, trying to play on my emotions.

“Deanna, you need to focus on the big picture. You’re my daughter. Half of Mistbane Pack’s fortune will be yours eventually. What we need right now is the rest of the money from Mooncrown Pack. I already promised you the shares–you’ll get them, just not this second. Why are you being so hung up on this?”

Then he sighed and added, “If it were Jillian, she’d understand my efforts.”

I could’ve cracked up at that.

It was clear that deep down, he still valued Jillian, his fake daughter, the most.

That day at the conference, Philip had already prepared the share transfer contract for Jillian, but he was wary of me at every turn.

I lightly tapped my fingers on my arm, speaking calmly. “It’s not impossible for me to go after the remaining funds.”

“Really?” His eyes lit right up, his voice softening, “Deanna, you’re such a good daughter.”

I grinned and said, “Dad, don’t get ahead of yourself.”

“How about this? We sign the share transfer contract today, and then I’ll go. What do you think?”

Philip’s smile instantly froze, and his eyebrows furrowed.

“Deanna, why do you have to be so stubborn? Forget this for now. You’re leading the ‘Moonline Expansion Project.‘ Do you want to see it stall halfway? Go get Mooncrown Pack’s money first.”

I didn’t even blink, insisting, “No, the shares must be transferred first.”

He glared at me, like he was trying to read my mind.

I stared right back, not budging an inch.

“Dad, you’re the one who taught me business is about profit. I’m just doing what you taught me. If you want results, you gotta put something on the table first, right?”

Philip’s face turned ashen.

Finally, he ground his teeth and muttered, “As expected of my daughter, you are a fast learner.”

Chapter 58 Hand Over the Shares First

Then he stalked to the marble desk, grabbed the phone, and ordered, “Tell Legal to draft a contract for the transfer of 30% of the company shares.”

The moment I signed, I felt like I was floating.

From today on, I was the second–largest shareholder of the company.

I’d thought a lot about things lately.

If my family won’t give me love, I’ll take money instead.

I used to be clueless, never pushing back on anything.

When I first came back to Mistbane Pack, Jillian picked on me constantly, like she couldn’t stand my existence.

I was afraid of making things worse, so I even moved out voluntarily.

Now that I think about it, I did a lot of dumb things like that.

Why should I let myself suffer, when I could flip it around? Making someone else miserable feels a whole lot better. That saying was dead–on.
