When I heard his words, my hands twitched at my sides.

I couldn’t tell what I was feeling–only that my heart skipped twice.

“Why me?” I asked.

“I already told you. I’m interested in your body.”

The answer hit me.

Maybe every alpha had that instinct to claim what they’d once touched.

And Luis had already said before that our bodies matched well in bed.

I lifted my head, met his gaze, and said firmly, “Okay.”

Before he could speak, I added, “But we need rules.”

“While we’re together, you can’t be with other women.” I paused.

I breathed in and added, “And of course, I’ll follow the same rule.”

“Fine,” Luis agreed without hesitation.

“One more thing,” I continued. “If either of us finds someone we truly like, we can walk away anytime.”

Luis’s brows drew together, his voice sharp with displeasure. “So what–you’re saying this is just a casual fling?”

“Luis, we’re not together because we’re in love. Giving each other freedom makes more sense, don’t you think?”

I never dared to hope Luis would fall for me.

A man like him–with his family and power–was far beyond my reach.

After I finished, I watched him nervously, unsure if he’d agree.

Luis’s POV:

The moment she agreed, I felt like my heart was about to jump out of my chest.

In my head, Griffin was cheering and rolling around, celebrating my small victory.

However, I realized there was something troubling in her words.

She agreed, but she believed that this relationship would ultimately end in a breakup.

I couldn’t deny it–I felt annoyed.

Still, I knew the truth. Deanna didn’t love me yet.

That was fine.

As long as she stayed by my side, I would make sure she learned to accept me and one day love me completely.

In the past, I didn’t have the right or the power to protect her.

But from now on, I wanted to shield her and never let her suffer again.

“Then let’s try it,” I said, forcing my voice to sound casual even though I meant it seriously.

Right after, I added, “But I have one condition.”

“What condition?” She lifted her eyes to me.

“This relationship has to be public.”

I wanted every werewolf to know that Deanna was mine. Jake was the past.

Deanna blinked, her eyes lit up with a smile, “Okay.”

“Good,” I said. Then I leaned closer, my voice lower. “In that case, Ms. Wiley, please go ahead and fulfill your duty as my girlfriend.”

Before she could react, I bent down and kissed her.
