Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 80

Deanna’s POV:

Her reaction made me laugh, and I nodded.

Violet’s face suddenly grew complicated. She pulled my hand into hers and spoke with unusual seriousness.

Deanna, a man like Luis is every woman’s dream. Do you know how many women would give anything just to be with him, to hope he’d choose them? If it’s just romance, enjoy it while you can. After all, mating with a man like Luis is a rare chance, and you have nothing to lose. But for that reason, you need to guard your heart. If one day it ends, you’ll be the one left broken.

It won’t happen.I shook my head slowly, clutching the small gift box tighter in my hands.

At least, I told myself it wouldn’t.

Violet gave me a look. Better hope so. You’re not carefree like me.

I couldn’t help but laugh and nudged her arm. Then why are you so good at letting go?

Violet leaned back in her chair, flicked her hair off her shoulder, and spoke with casual confidence.

Simple. I know how big the world is. I’d never tie myself down to just one werewolf.

After we parted, I carried the gift box back to my car. I had planned to surprise Luis at his office.

Violet’s warning lingered. Somehow, that idea faded away.

The car felt stuffy in the silence. I pressed the radio button, and through the faint crackle of static, a familiar male voice slipped out

I have no idea what got into me, but I just froze.

It was Luis. He was being interviewed.

Calm and confident, he spoke about the future of his company.

His tone was smooth, almost lazy, with a deep timbre that carried even through the static. The sound made my ears tingle.

As the interview was wrapping up, the reporter asked, Mr. Eaton, before we finish, can I ask something personal? There’s a photo in your office. A little girl with a dog. Is she your childhood sweetheart?

The radio went silent. A few seconds stretched on so long they felt endless.

My hands clenched hard around the steering wheel.

That photoIt had to be the one I’d seen in his office.

Finally, Luis’s deep voice returned.

Not a childhood sweetheart. She’s the woman I like.

My mind buzzed, and everything else around me faded away.

Chapter 80 The Woman I Like

+20 From Coins

Until the headlights of a truck coming straight at me were so bright I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I snapped out of my daze and slammed on the brakes in a panic.

Too late.

ScreeeechBANG!

The sharp squeal of tires mixed with the deafening crash of metal. The violent jolt threw me forward.

Luckily the airbag burst out in time, wrapping around me and keeping me from smashing into the wheel.

I sat there for a long while before I could push myself up. My forehead burned, my head spun, and pain pulsed through my body.

A tall, muscular man with a shaved head was pounding hard on the window.

I sucked in a breath, pressed my hand to the swelling on my forehead, unbuckled the seatbelt, and stumbled out of the car.

The truck driver glared at me, his face twisted with anger. What’s wrong with you? Don’t you know how to drive?

I fought through the pain and said softly, I’m sorry. Really, I’m so sorry.

The rage in his eyes faded a little when he got a good look at me.
