Chapter 90 Don’t You Dare Bully Deanna
Violet’s POV:
The buzz of alcohol faded almost instantly as I glanced at Deanna. Her face had gone pale.
Dammit!
I had planned to use this game to put those scumbags and their girlfriends in their place.
But of course, Deanna, who was clueless about games, had to lose first.
I looked across the couch and caught Jake smirking, proud as ever.
No way. Is that jerk about to get lucky because of this?
If she kissed him, would that mean she’d fall right back into his arms?
My mind was a complete mess. Before I could think, I jumped to my feet.
“I’ll take Deanna’s punishment.”
After all, kissing a guy is the same no matter who it is. Just close your eyes and pretend it’s acting.
Peggie quickly leaned in. “Well, since Violet offered, it’s all just for fun. Why not let her take it instead?”
Robert shoved the girl next to him aside with a grin. “Perfect. Guess I’ll do the honors and kiss you.”
I shot him a look full of disgust.
Of all people, it would never be an idiot like him.
That’s when Jake spoke, his tone sharp, “What, we’re changing the rules now? Since when can you just switch it up?”
I almost swore out loud.
This jerk couldn’t have made it clearer–he wanted Deanna to kiss him.
The host stepped in awkwardly. “Rules are rules. Ms. Wiley, please pick someone here to kiss.”
Deanna gave a calm smile. “Fair’s fair. I’ll do it.”
My heart jumped into my throat. I shook my head at her, desperate.
Don’t do it. We can just quit the game.
But the next second, Deanna turned to me. She cupped my face in her hands, her cool fingers making me freeze. Then her lips brushed softly against mine.
My eyes flew wide open, and my mind went blank. No way–did she just kiss me, her best friend?!
Deanna leaned back with a smile. “That should be enough.”

“This–this is cheating!” Robert shouted, springing to his feet.
I snapped out of it, planted my hands on my hips, and stood up.
“You said the rule was to kiss someone. Well, am i not someone? I’m alive and kicking. Deanna already kissed me. That means the punishment is over. Unless, of course, when one of you guys loses next, you’re fine kissing each other instead.”
The second those words left my mouth, the men who had been cheering turned pale.
I could hardly stop myself from grinning. My bestie was brilliant–what a move!
Then I glanced at Jake. His face had gone dark, like thunder. He grabbed the whiskey on the table and downed it in one gulp.
“Deal the cards. Let’s keep going.”
The next round started. When I flipped my card, my eyes lit up. “Peggie, looks like it’s finally your turn to lose.”
Peggie instantly put on her innocent act, glancing shyly at Jake. “Can I choose to kiss someone instead?”
I sneered. “Nice try. That’s not punishment–that’s a reward. Take something off.”
Robert cut in. “She’s only wearing that one dress. If she takes it off, she’ll have nothing to wear. What’s Jake supposed to do then?”
I turned on Jake, my voice sharp with mockery. “What’s Jake supposed to do? Jake, I’ve been meaning to ask–what’s the deal between you and Peggie? Are you two dating? If you can look Deanna in the eye and say yes, I’ll let Peggie off.”
