Kylo seemed to be faltering, as he struggled with what to say. However, he finally shut his eyes tightly, shoving Fergus away, the latter falling butt-first to the ground.
"Dude, you’re not in love with me," Kylo said sternly. "It’s just lust. It’s always just fun with you, Cullen. Yes, you’re gay, but you don’t even try settling down with anyone. And for the last time, I am NOT gay."
Fergus felt like face-palming himself. For the love of everything unholy, why was Kylo so uptight?!
Even though he was frustrated inside, Fergus didn’t let that reflect on his exterior demeanor, as he pretended to be affected by Kylo’s push and words.
"Ow!" Fergus yelped, giving Kylo a pained look. Then, with a cracked voice, he spoke. "Why are you doing this to me, Kylo? You know you like me too. You can feel the pull too. We’re soulmates."
Fergus smirked secretly to himself when he saw Kylo retch at his words. He looked at Fergus, disgust and annoyance laced in his voice. "Soulmates my ass!" Kylo snarled, rubbing his forehead before continuing. "Listen, Cullen, there can never be a ’me and you’. Ever. The sooner you get that into your head, the better."
As Kylo turned to leave, Fergus suddenly recalled the reason he had interrupted Kylo’s training.
"Hey, what’re you even training for anyway?" He inquired, getting up himself and dusting his body.
Without turning, Kylo replied with a harrumph. "Cullen, this is something you wouldn’t be of much use in."
Fergus tilted his head. Oh, now he was even more curious.
With Kylo not looking, he took advantage of the situation. Fergus zoomed to him with his vamp speed, blocking his advancement. Kylo frowned, opening his mouth a little in surprise.
"Still think I’m useless, Kylo darling?" He arched his eyebrows with a knowing grin.
Kylo looked away, much to Fergus’s amusement.
"Okay, fine. It’s not like you wouldn’t hear it from the news tomorrow morning anyway." Kylo sighed to himself first before continuing. "The higher-ups in the pack have a plan in place. In two days, all firstborn males of each family will be enlisted to join the pack’s army. Then, they’d be trained under the guidance of the Gamma and Beta to prepare against the vampires."
Fergus couldn’t help frowning to himself. These pesky wolves! Did they really think enlisting a bunch of civilians into the army would amount to much?
It seemed they required another attack to remind them of their place...
Suddenly, Kylo smirked at Fergus, causing him to squint his eyes. So, the Gamma’s son was capable of smiling at him? Miracles do happen!
However, the words that came out of Kylo’s mouth next made Fergus once again second-guess his choice of taking Cullen’s body. "Now you see why I said this information wouldn’t be of use to you? With you being one of the girls and all, you don’t have to worry about being enlisted."
Fergus bit his lips. Touchè Kylo.
Touchè...
Kylo laughed at his own joke before heading back home, leaving Fergus to his thoughts.
The Raven Wood keepers pack were stepping up their game in this war. Hmph! It was about time.
But now, Fergus felt a bit lost on what to do. He had this nagging feeling that something wasn’t right with this new plan. He secretly wished his brothers and sisters luck, trusting in the Vampire lord’s leadership.
.
Fergus and Kylo reached the Gamma’s house around the same time. They met Lupe sleeping soundly on a sofa, exhausted.
Fergus smirked to himself. Why wouldn’t she be tired after getting so much pleasure from him earlier today?
"At least Lupe was able to get some sleep." Kylo sighed, looking at her with pity. "Poor girl, she’s lost so much already."
"We all have, Kylo," Fergus skillfully conveyed a shared sense of camaraderie with the wolves.
Kylo shot him a glance, smiling wryly at him.
Two smiles in one night from him. That was delicious progress!
