As Kylo watched her run away, everyone else around her was almost non-existent in his eyes. His wolf pushed him to chase after her and get to know her more.
But he had to hold himself back. If truly she was his mate, they’d cross paths again soon enough.
It seemed she was headed for the busiest part of the pack, filled with high-class hotels and businesses mostly run by fey. He’ll go searching there before the break is over, but first...
"Let’s go home." He muttered to Cullen as he turned toward the opposite direction and began walking.
However, Cullen just had to ruin the mood that Dew’s presence brought him.
"Did I just witness a real-life Bollywood romance come to life?" He teased, placing a palm on his shoulder. "The chemistry between you and that girl was crazy. But does this mean she’ll replace us?"
Kylo rolled his eyes, shoving Cullen’s palm away from his shoulder. "There was never an ’us’ Cullen. And there never will be. We’re just friends, and that’s where it ends." He stated firmly, leaving no room for rebuttal.
Cullen gasped dramatically but then grinned slyly. "Oh, so you now see me as a friend, eh?"
"Fuck off, Cullen," Kylo grunted, causing the latter to laugh as they walked to Gamma Rhett’s house.
Once they got there, Kylo didn’t even bother knocking but instead opened the door. However, the moment he stepped in, he smelt something.
It was faint now, but something horrible had happened here. He could smell the faint smell of... Blood. Wolf’s blood.
This took his mind to the other day when he’d smelt the same thing in his room before the enlistment program began.
Just then, before he could think deeper about this, his eyes landed on Isleen sitting comfortably on a sofa. She got up, greeting Cullen who was behind him, but her gaze lingered on him for a while.
Seeing her now, after everything he’d found out about her, made his stomach churn. He felt like he was going to puke any minute.
He didn’t know how Cullen did it, but he couldn’t pretend like he and Isleen were still ’cool’. So, just when she turned her gaze to him and opened her mouth to say something, he walked past her, heading to the kitchen without looking back.
"Is everything okay with Kylo?" He heard her ask Cullen, causing a pang of rage to bubble in his chest. But he ignored her comment and proceeded to the kitchen anyway.
Is everything okay? No, Isleen, everything was not ’okay’. She dared to sleep around with his dad and ask if everything was ’okay’.
When Kylo got to the kitchen, he quickly grabbed a bottle of scotch whiskey from his dad’s cabinet and poured a glass for himself. His old man had told him several times to never touch his liquor, but he didn’t care right now.
He needed to think straight. His head throbbed so much that it felt like it was about to explode.
Having that cheater here was a mistake. But he couldn’t blame himself... He was just trying to be nice. To show her a little kindness and show her that he still cared. And what had she been doing in return?
"Fuck you, Isleen Gracia." He shook his head, muttering to himself as he chugged down a whole glass of whiskey.
The sharp burning after taste that it left in his throat did little to ease the burning sensation coming from his heart. He needed to drink more.
He’d never been the type to waste himself on alcohol, but yet here he was. Hurray for Kylo Dark Water!
