"By the moon..." Isleen whispered from where she sat, covering her mouth with her hands. "I... I think I’ve met that girl before. Once. She was so nice to me but we never had the chance to talk again."
Kylo’s eyes twitched. He clenched his jaw as he held his chest, in a desperate move to control his breathing. This couldn’t be happening.
Dew... His Dew... Was dead.
"Fuck..." He muttered as he brushed his hand through his hair. "Fuck!" He yelled out, as he moved toward a sofa.
He kicked it, managing to move it to the other side of the living room in the process. Isleen jumped out of where she sat, startled.
"K–Kylo?" She muttered with a shaky tone. "Kylo, is something wrong?"
He ignored her as he paced around the living room. He felt his eyes stinging and getting hot. With tears.
Soon enough, the tears started streaming down like a river.
"Kylo, oh my gosh... Are you crying?" Isleen rushed to him, placing her palm on his shoulder. "Did... Did you know her? Did you know Dew?"
He didn’t even have the strength or will to get her hand off his shoulder. He was lost. It seemed his life was cursed.
He’d barely known Dew for a day. Heck, for a few hours! Was someone out to get him?
Just then, Cullen walked down into the living room, but Kylo didn’t even turn to look him in the face. He just stood there, his eyes still glued to the television.
"A statement has been made by the Gamma. He’s suggested that this was yet again, another vampire attack." The reporter continued speaking. "The hotel has been closed down and all citizens are advised to remain indoors as much as possible during these times. Always move in groups. Always work in groups..."
The reporter continued talking, but his voice became distant as Kylo went into thought.
This... This was just proof of his father’s incompetence! The man had been busy frolicking with his ex-girlfriend and was now soft. Distracted.
"Kylo..." Cullen suddenly blurted behind him. "You need to calm down. Think... Who is responsible for this?"
Responsible? The fucking vampire out there was responsible! He’d find the bastard and kill him.
"Kylo..." Isleen muttered at his left side, grabbing his left shoulder gently. "What happened to Dew... Was terrible. I don’t even know where to begin. But, you need to think rationally here. The pack officials, especially your father, will solve this case and bring the killer to book."
Kylo closed his eyes, trying to control his thoughts. It was a hard task with Cullen and Isleen’s ranting.
Cullen placed a palm on his right shoulder, whispering into his ear. "The pack officials have failed us all. The Gamma and Alpha have been corrupted. Don’t you remember how the pack soldiers were sent to protect the Alpha’s ass during the last attack while innocent civilians were slaughtered?"
He was right. The higher-ups were corrupt. He’d looked up to his father, the Gamma, thinking he was the only good link among them. It seemed he was wrong.
"Kylo, no." Isleen clutched his left arm tighter. "It’s not your father’s fault. He... He’s trying his best. The pack officials are trying their best, but this vampire is way too dangerous and cunning. You have to have hope in them again."
