Chapter 264: I Might Be Rough

Soon enough, the burning warehouse was surrounded by several pack soldiers and curious civilians. Somehow, word spread out that the shape-shifting vampire who’d been terrorizing the pack all this while was burning underneath the rubble of that warehouse.

Luckily, the warehouse was pretty much isolated from other buildings so the flames couldn’t spread.

Rhett held Isleen close as they watched the flames burn. With his keen werewolf eyesight, he was able to peer through the flames and was shocked by what he saw next.

"H– He’s still alive." He stuttered with disbelief as he held Isleen even closer, secretly fearing that Fergus would rise from the flames and snatch her away from him.

The pack civilians hurled curses at the vampire even as he walked out of the flames. To everyone’s surprise, he fought through the pack soldiers and barrage of weapons and bullets before stopping a few meters in front of Rhett and Isleen.

Gamma Rhett noticed the way the vampire’s eyes lingered on Isleen and held her closer, giving him a menacing glare.

After the bastard kept calling Isleen ’Megami’, nothing could prepare Rhett for what he said next.

"I–I think this is what you mortals call... Love." Fergus stuttered with a wry smile.

After that, he accepted his fate as the pack soldiers barked out orders to pour more gasoline on him. After they did, they lit him up and Rhett watched as the vampire that’d killed so many people and been a bane to his career... Burnt to ash.

"He’s dead!" A man among the civilians roared.

"This calls for a celebration."

"We’ll gather his ash and scatter it on our pack ground so we can step on it."

Soon, the pack civilians dispersed and began swarming the streets in their numbers.

Isleen glanced up at Rhett just then before holding his hand. The action took Rhett by surprise but he soon smiled back at her as they turned and headed home.

However, even in their celebratory mood, the pack civilians noticed the closeness between Rhett and Isleen and began mumbling among themselves with judgemental stares.

"What is she doing with her boyfriend’s father?"

"...I think I heard something about Kylo breaking up with her."

"Wait, do you think this could be the reason for them breaking up? Because she was secretly screwing her boyfriend’s dad?"

By the moon, the rumors weren’t coming to an end! When would people learn to mind their business?

Surprisingly, when Rhett turned to see Isleen’s reaction to all of it, her face was oddly calm.
