Chapter 55: _ Vampires are The Bad Guys

On getting home, the street was more secluded than normal. I knew this was typical of a Monday afternoon as everyone would either still be at work or school.

Yet, the few we met in the street all whispered about me just like on our way back. The only difference was that people here did it more discreetly.

Those on the way didn’t seem to care if I heard or not.

As soon as we entered the house, I ushered Liam inside and shut the door behind us.

He looked at me expectantly. "What now, Megami?"

Argh. He was doing it again. That weird thingy.

He was probably trying to not think about the mishap that had just happened. I should help him out.

"Alright, champ," I said, forcing a smile. "Let’s get you cleaned up. Go ahead and take off your clothes, I’ll throw them in the laundry."

He nodded obediently, disappearing into his room. I took some of my and Cullen’s dirty clothes too. I needed to do something to get my mind off thinking.

All those horrible things said about me were always so heavy that they held me back. Liam soon returned to give his clothes to me.

"Thanks, Pup." I grinned, patting his shoulder like Cullen.

I suddenly wished Cullen was here. Being light-hearted finding a way to make us laugh despite the trouble.

As I gathered the discarded clothes, my mind replayed the events of the day. More importantly, the unsettling encounter with Gamma Rhett – it all lorded over my mind.

To hell, he was the most aloof person I’d ever seen. Yet, that aloofness of his seemed to draw me in.

"Isleen, what are you doing?" I grumbled, shaking my head.

I shouldn’t think about that man. Not in the way that I was doing. He was my boyfriend’s Dad.

I should rather focus on things like the killer. Yes.

Could the killer be someone within the school? The thought that such could be possible sent a shiver down my spine. I could not imagine that sort of person moving around with us.

It was crazy.

Perhaps if they had implemented stricter security measures, like guards by the gate, this tragedy could have been avoided in the school. We all took things lightheartedly.

Well, things had always been good before this war.

With a sigh, I began sorting the laundry. When my fingers brushed against Liam’s shirt, a jolt of shock ran through me as I noticed a faint crimson stain on the collar.

What in the seven holy hells...?

Where did this come from?

Blood?

"Liam!" I called out immediately.

My child had a stain on his collar. Hell.

He emerged from his room, a towel wrapped around his damp hair. "Yes, Ms. Isleen?"

My voice trembled as I held up the shirt. "How did this happen? Where did you get this blood?"
