He took the boy to the woods.
"Heya, little pal. Sorry, I’m going to be a scum weasel, but hell. You oughta see this coming, didn’t you?" He grabbed the boy’s chin who had been asking him nonstop about why they were heading to the woods.
Trembling, "W– who are you?" Stammered, the boy.
"Umm - I’m going to let you guess." Fergus smacked his tongue, enjoying the little pep talk he was having with his meal.
The boy shakily skimmed him from up to toe as if he was truly going to find that different thing Fergus mentioned.
Bloody dummy little tweak, Fergus winced.
He saw the boy’s Adam Apple move upward and downward again. "Y— you are a fairy." He said.
"Very damn well, I am!" Fergus threw his hands up and laughed. "I am a goddamn fairy." He flapped those boring wings.
Even as his eyes were telling him something else, the boy seemed to be in doubt. He knew he was in front of a fairy but he knew it wasn’t a fairy speaking to him.
Perhaps, he wasn’t as dumb as Fergus thought. Sad he’d have to die for a greater cause.
"What’s your name, boy?" Fergus asked, rubbing the boy’s hair. "Liam, right?"
Fergus saw his brows furrow. "H— how did you..." He trailed off.
"Hm. How about I’ve been watching you, Liam? You have no idea how hard, boring, and frustrating it is to monitor you. You are one boring, boy, damn it!" Fergus stood up and shook his head.
He suddenly heard the sound of something dripping onto the ground, and when he looked, he saw it. Liam was pissing his pants.
He couldn’t help a roar of laughter. "Now, now. Come on, come on. Don’t be so scared. I’ve not done anything bad to you, have I? I have only been nice enough to play with you, and yet, you do this...?"
"Y— you’re not here to take me to my brother, are you?" Liam stammered out.
Fergus licked his lips, his hands going on his hips. The laughter died in his throat, replaced by a cold, calculating stare. The boy’s whimper was like nails on a chalkboard, but Fergus ignored it, focusing on the fear clouding Liam’s eyes. It wasn’t the absolute raw terror Fergus craved, but it would suffice.
"Your brother," Fergus spat. "He’s long gone." He made a demonstration of a bite with his teeth and hands, startling the boy. "Killed. Neck snapped, and everything."
Liam’s breath thumbed, his body convulsing with a fresh wave of sobs. Fergus reveled in the misery, the fear finally blossoming into something tangible. Into the type he wanted. He reached out to the boy’s face, his fingers brushing against his cheek. That sure did sending another tremor through the boy’s frame.
Fergus liked it.
"But you, Liam," Fergus cooed, his voice a sickly sweet contrast to the menace in his eyes, "you get a special treat. You get to be part of something bigger. Something important."
Liam was more than visibly shaking now. Fergus could hear him pinching himself. "I... I don’t understand why you’re doing this. You are a fairy. Fairies don’t..."
