Rhett knew he was going to see Isleen the moment he left for her school. Matter of fact, it was safe to say that he left the station himself not just entirely because he wanted to survey the scene himself but because he needed to see Isleen.
Even if it were just a glimpse, it’d suffice.
And he did. She was still as defiant as ever when she saw him. She still didn’t get it. She would eventually get it. He’d show her.
"Gamma Rhett," Began the school’s principal when he began to question him. "Mr. Fenrir is quite the outgoing man. Very very outgoing if you’d ask me..."
Rhett thought he heard something else beneath those words. "Care to elaborate?" He asked.
"Ahem!" Coughed the principal. "Well... Let’s just say– he tends to make some lower-ranked teachers uncomfortable."
Rhett tilted his head, "In what sense? Can you be blunt here? Respectfully, Mr. Thorne, I don’t have forever."
"Erm— what I’m trying to say is that he doesn’t have enemies but not many people liked him."
Argh.
Could the damn old man just say whatever it was he was insinuating?!
"And who are those who potentially do not like him?" Pocketing his hands, Rhett asked.
The man shrugged. "Ms. Isleen Garcia for starters."
A deep line appeared between Rhett’s brows. What was this man trying to imply? That Isleen could be the culprit?! He had worked so much and knew how to discern criminals from people who weren’t.
Isleen wasn’t a criminal. She was just a stubborn one.
"Look," He tried to hold Rhett’s hands but Rhett dodged it. "I’m aware she’s your son’s girlfriend and you are not in support of their union. Everyone knows that she is an outlaw – just like her parents."
It took every fiber in Rhett to hold him back from reaccting. Every word that escaped the damn’s principal lips boiled his blood.
What in hell’s name was he trying to do?!
This would only implicate Isleen.
Rhett inhaled sharply. He needed it. "And what makes you think that this case is related to Isleen?"
"I mean– well, everyone knows what she is..."
"What is she?" Rhett cut him off.
Mr. Thorne shrugged. "An omega. Everyone bullies her. Even some– if not most of the teachers here do bully her. Mr. Fenrir is rumored to always making sexual advances at her, you know. So, per the question, you just asked me, my best guess is Isleen Gracia."
People like Mr. Thorne were businessmen. He knew what he was doing. Isleen was the easiest one to pin the blame on. It would give the soldiers the feeling that they could proceed with the investigation and hence, take it all away from the school – the crime scene.
So far for Mr. Thorne, having them around and this murder in its sense was bad for business.
He would have just sent Alistair to come handle the bloody man but he wouldn’t allow anyone to step on Isleen. That Mr. Fenrir was lucky he was already dead.
If otherwise...
