I managed to find a dirty old blanket in a box in the basement and I curled up under it for the night.
I knew that if I even tried to come out before morning, I would get the ass kicking of my life.
So I stayed in the basement on the cold floor with a thin blanket over me and tried to get a little bit
of sleep. But unfortunately, I didn’t get a whole lot.
When I heard movement upstairs and muffled voices, I sat up and leaned up against the wall with
the blanket over me while trying to nurse my broken ribs.
“I wish I could go up there and kill them all.” Lily said.
“And how do you think that would go? You know they are so much stronger than we are. You know
that we’re weaker. We don’t eat as much. We get whipped with wolfsbane which makes us weaker.
That’s why she does it. So if you ever try to come out, they can kill us instantly.” I said.
“I know. But I can’t sit back forever and watch them do this to you. I’m meant to protect you.” Lily
said.
“I know.” I said.
“Why don’t you tell Asher?” She asked.
“No.” I shot down immediately. I was determined that no one was going to find out about this.
“Trinny. I think your wrist might be broken as well.” She said,
“I know. I started thinking that half way through the night. I thought I just landed on it wrong but it’s really swollen.” I said.
“You don’t heal as fast as a normal wolf because they keep you weak. You need to get it taken care
of.” She said,
“I’ll do that later.” I said.
As soon as I was sure everyone had left I made my way upstairs and I went to have a shower and got ready for the day. I packed my bag and left the house, walking to the high school in the middle.
of town.
I didn’t have any students just yet so I went to see the doctor that they had on staff here
permanently.
“Trinity. It’s so good to see you.” Dr. Andrews said.
“Hi doc. I wish it was under better circumstances.” I said.
“What’s happened?” He asked.
I
“Well, I decided to take a nice little tumble down the stairs last night. I thought I was alright until this morning when I looked at my wrist.” I said, showing him.
“Wow. Yeah, that’s definitely broken. It’ll take a little longer to heal as you know. Broken bones take longer to heal than bruises and such. So, I’ll have to plaster it up.” He said.
“Yeah. I was expecting that.” I said.
“You said that you fell down the stairs last night?” He asked as he started getting together the equipment that he needed.
“Yeah. It was the middle of the night. I was half asleep.” I said.
“Well, that bruise on your head should have disappeared by now.” He said. So I got up to have a look in the mirror and there was a large bruise on my forehead that I hadn’t realized was there.
“I didn’t notice that.” I said.
“Did you get that last night?” He asked.
“I don’t know. I’m pretty clumsy.” I said.
“It looks really fresh. I need you to roll up your sleeve.” He said.
I turned around to look at him and I looked really hesitant at first.
I sat back down on the bed and I slowly started rolling up the sleeve of my shirt that showed all of the bruises that were in different stages of healing.
Dr. Andrews looks at me strangely but I look away from him and avoid all eye contact so he starts
plastering up my arm.
“How are your parents?” He asked, trying to make small talk.
“They’re good. Doing the usual stuff. Mom’s friends with Luna and going to luncheon’s and all that crap. Dad’s still working for the Alpha.” I said.
“And what about Spencer?” He asked.
“Spencer is great. He’s been appointed Alpha Asher’s Beta when Alpha Asher takes over.” I said.
“Wow. That’s impressive. You come from a strong line of wolves.” He said.
I
“I guess I do. I don’t know why I have to be so clumsy.” I said.
“People are allowed to have little accidents. There’s nothing wrong with that. But what isn’t allowed is for people to abuse other members of the pack. You know the Alpha doesn’t stand for

that, don’t you?” He asked.
“I know” I said, avoiding eye contact.
“So, if something was happening that you think you should be ashamed of, you really shouldn’t be And it should be reported. It should be investigated.” He said.
“I know. And that’s exactly what will happen if something bad does happen.” I said.
“You know, it doesn’t matter how powerful a family is in this pack. They aren’t allowed to do whatever they want.” He said.
“I am also aware of that. And like I said, if I see anything I will say something.” I said. So he nodded
his head.
As soon as he finished plastering my arm I thanked him for his help and I left as soon as I could
before he could ask me any questions.
I knew that it looked suspicious but I can’t let him go to the Alpha about this otherwise it will get straight back to my parents and I will cop it even worse than usual. I can’t let that happen.
I had several different classes that I always held in the library with only a couple of students at a time so they got the attention that they deserved and then I left the high school.
