Jessica grinned, waggling her brows. “Mr. Gray just said you were probably like him–totally unaware that Glen liked you until tonight. He’s figured it out. What about you?”
Maggie’s feelings were mixed. “I see it now.”
In truth, when Glen first handed her the drink, she hadn’t thought much of it.
Only after noticing the hostility he showed Jimmy did it dawn on her–maybe Glen liked her too.
Jessica smiled.
Something occurred to her, and she asked, “Do they know your situation?”
Maggie knew what she meant. “More or less. I told Jimmy outright that I’ve been married, have a child, and I’m getting divorced. As for Glen… I should’ve mentioned it at work; he should know.”
The fact that Glen knew–and was a few years younger–made the realization even more startling.
Jessica nodded, satisfied. “Good. I’ve barely talked to them, but I get the sense they really like you. I think you could genuinely consider them.”
Maggie bit her straw and lowered her gaze without answering.
Jessica understood–Maggie hadn’t fully moved on from Franklin. Considering someone else now might be unfair to them.
She was about to say more when Jimmy arrived with a plate of barbecue, dividing portions for them. “Fresh off the grill. See what you think?”
Maggie snapped back to the moment. Not wanting to reject his kindness, she set down her drink and took the plate. “Thanks.”
She blew gently on a piece and took a small bite while Jimmy watched her, that soft smile never leaving his face–and his eyes never leaving hers.
Noticing, she turned slightly, self–conscious.
Still, not wanting to waste his effort, she tasted it properly and said, “It’s really good. Perfect doneness. Thanks for the work.”
“As long as you like it,” he said. “Too salty? Too much seasoning?”
Maggie shook her head. “No, just right.”
“Good.” Sensing her unease, he didn’t press. “I’ll let you two chat. I’ll make some more.”
“I’ll help,” Maggie offered–she could cook, and felt bad letting him do everything.
But before she finished, Glen walked up. “This is my grilled beef. Want to try?”
He could barely cook. Worried about the taste, he’d had someone teach him the night before and practiced again that morning. He’d sampled this batch himself and, satisfied, plated it and brought it over.
Maggie paused. “You…”
Glen knew she’d only just realized how he felt and might not know how to face him.
He kept it gentle, not forceful. “Just a taste?”
Maggie hesitated, then took the plate. “Thanks.”

Mr. CEO, Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time
Chapter 444
“You’re welcome.” Like Jimmy, he knew better than to push. “There’s more on the grill. I’ll keep an eye on it. It’s my first time doing this, so if anything’s off, just tell me.”
“…Okay,” Maggie said.
He turned to go.
Watching, Jimmy didn’t snatch the plate from her or say anything to keep her from eating Glen’s food. He simply said, warm and steady, “You don’t have to eat all of it. Just a little is fine. Don’t force yourself.”
Glen, not far away, heard and stopped.
Even though they were rivals, he turned back and added, “Right. If you don’t like it, don’t eat it. Don’t make it hard on yourself.”
Maggie exhaled.
“Okay. I know.”
