Alpha Scott’s eyes narrow. His hand is clenched tightly around the gun, eyes burning with rage.
I stand, relaxed and waiting. My expression is unconcerned.
A second goes by, and then two…
Well?” I ask with a frown.

I’m not a patient man. I don’t have the time to wait around and watch him decide on if he dares shoot me or
not.
“Shall we make this easier?” I offer,
His brows furrow but before he can react, I reach out, snatching the gun out of his grip, and turning it on him.
“Alpha!” The blue howl wolves that accompanied him exclaim. They’re about to lunge at me, but Alpha Scott lifts a hand to stop them.
His eyes shift between the gun and me. He maintains his composure, but I don’t miss the uncertainty that flashes through his eyes.
He knows just as well as I do that I’m not bound by their territory laws.
Alphas don’t kill other Alphas… I’d killed my fair share. I only believe in one law, and that’s making sure my enemies can never dare cross me again. Because they’ll be learning a bitter lesson the first time around.
“Do you want to retest that theory?” I ask him, my finger inching close to the trigger.
“You can’t…no one here will stand for it.” Alpha Scott says in a tone of certainty.
I smirk. Three consecutive bangs echo through the den.
Alpha Scott’s eyes are wide in horror. He stares at me, his composure slipping precariously.
It takes a moment for him to realise he is unhurt. But the same cannot be said for the Blue Howl wolves accompanying him.
Among the five warriors he’d stormed the den with, three of them dropped to the ground, howling in pain.
My eyes roam around the den in boredom, before returning to a still shocked Alpha Scott. “I don’t think anyone minds.”
“If you waltz into my territory armed, and brandish your weapon… I retain the rights to determine your fate in defence of my territory. This means your life is forfeit at my will. These are the pack laws you all abide by.” I point out.
“Suddenly, you believe you’re above it?” My tone is dark, but calm. Eerily so. “Neither you nor your son can

afford this exchange. You know why? Because you came into my territory stirring trouble, and not the other way around.”
“If I were you, I’d dedicate my time to nursing Marcus back to health. If word spreads that the Alpha of Blue Howl is not in a good condition…do you want to see how many will jump at the chance to take over your pack?”
“It’s not news that the current Alpha is undeserving.”
“Kael! You bastard!” Alpha Scott snarls, jumping to his feet. His shoulders are shaking with his agitation.
“You’re not young. You should be mindful of your health.” I advise, handing the gun over to Blake.
I toss my jacket to the seat, sidestepping the blood pooling on the floor before taking a seat across from Alpha Scott.
“Now that is out of the way, sit.” My tone is clipped as I slide a file Blake hands me across the table.
Alpha Scott hesitates for a moment before picking up the file. He glances through it, and his eyes widen.
Turning to Caleb, I nod. And in a moment, the injured Blue Howl wolves are escorted out of the den. The fight resumes in the ring and the den falls back into the briefly interrupted order.
“This…” He trails off. “This operation license is worth millions. Only major packs can get a hand on it.” His eyes are wide with surprise.
But then, he quickly clears his throat. Dropping the file on the table, “Why are you showing me this?”
“I’m not showing it to you.” I clarify, “I’m offering you a deal, with terms and conditions attached, of course. It’s up to you if you wish to accept it.”
Alpha Scott frowns slightly and slowly sits. “Something so precious will elevate any pack by a few ranks in the next ranking. Why not offer it to Blackwood instead?” He asks suspiciously.
I lean back on the couch, “I’ll take that to be a no. You can see yourself out.”
Alpha Scott’s eyes widen and he quickly grabs the file before Blake can take it away.
I shrug casually, watching Alpha Scott read through the file again. His hands tremble eagerly, his forehead shines with perspiration.
“I…no.” Alpha Scott says. “Whatever your reasons are, it doesn’t affect my pack.”
Blake hands him a pen and he wipes his hand on his jacket before taking it. In a moment, his signature shines in black ink on the paper.
Blake retrieves the file and I gesture to the door.
“Pass on my wishes for a full recovery to Marcus.”
Alpha Scott’s expression is grim, like it only now occurs to him that he’d just signed a deal despite my

contribution to his son’s condition.
He nods once and strides out with his wolves.
A waiter comes over, clearing Alpha Scott’s drinks and replacing it with mine.

I pick up the glass and lift it to my lips, sipping from it. My brows furrow slightly at the strange taste, and my head snaps up,
“Don’t drink that.” I stop Blake as he lifts the glass to his lips.
Blake freezes, his eyes narrowing. “Shit!”
“Don’t draw attention.” I warn in a low tone.
Caleb looks alarmed. “I’ll bring him in now. And get a doctor.” He storms off after the waiter who’d just left our table.
I twirl the contents of the glass, before placing it down on the table. Blake tries to assist me but I shake my head. “I’m fine, I only had a sip.”
Getting up to my feet, I head for the exit.
A short moment later, we walk into my office and that’s when the first surge of pain hits.
I double over, clutching the nearest wall for balance.
“Kael!” Blake exclaims in horror,
