“Me?”. I cut her off. “What have I done?”.

“Oh, come on he’s had a thing for you since you first stepped into his class. You’re dating my brother; he’s never liked Jake. Put two and two together”.

I wasn’t getting into this with her. She was being ridiculous, and I was not the reason Mr. Gallagher disliked her family. Not to mention it was highly inappropriate for her to even say that.

How did we even get onto the subject of talking about Mr Gallagher?

“Tell me I’m wrong”.

“Are you done?”. I crossed my arms over my chest.

“Remember that night in the club?”

“The night where I caught Jake with a girls hands down his pants? Yeah, I remember that night well”.

I knew exactly what she was trying to do, and I wasn’t playing ball. I didn’t want to fight with her, but I also wasn’t going to stand here and let her make me feel bad for something I had nothing to do with.

“Shit I’m sorry”. She made a face. “I don’t think before I speak sometimes”.

“Do you really think I’m the reason Mr Gallagher doesn’t like your family?”.

“No, of course not. I shouldn’t have said anything I’m sorry”

“Then why did you bring up that night?”.

“He was flirting with you”. She made a face. “And you didn’t stop him”.

“Why are we even talking about this?”. I asked.

“I don’t know”. She shrugged. “Maybe I am looking for an argument.

“And you picked me to do it with?”.

“I’m sorry okay”. A sigh fell from her lips. “I’m just having a bad day and you’re the unlucky one”.

“Are you and Carter, okay?”. She only ever seemed to be this bitchy when her and Carter weren’t on speaking terms.

“We’re fine look I’m sorry for saying all of that and for even bringing it up. I’m going to head home and take a nap. I’ve been out there most of the night”.

She didn’t give me time to respond; she walked to her car and drove off down the street. I wasn’t sure if I should be worried or not. She was obviously going through something I just hoped she knew she could come to me whenever.

I closed the door and jumped about a foot in the air when his voice reached my ears.
