My Reborn Admirer Wins Over My Heart novel Chapter 116

**He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
**Chapter 116: The Failed Attempt at Forcing Medicine**

As he steadied his breathing, James approached the bedside with a purposeful stride. He flipped through the patient’s chart, his finger tapping the page with an air of impatience and disdain.

“It’s quite simple, really,” he declared, his tone dripping with condescension. “They’ve exhausted every possible method to bring down the fever. The only option left is medication, so just give him the fever meds.”

With a dismissive shove, he pushed Oriana aside, his movements casual yet commanding as he donned a pair of gloves. “Bring me the meds. If none of you have the guts to do it, I’ll handle it myself,” he asserted, a hint of arrogance lacing his words.

In his mind, he couldn’t fathom why everyone was making such a fuss. It was just medicine—how complicated could it be?

Zachary, however, felt a growing irritation at James’ flippant demeanor.

What an insufferable little fool, he thought, his frustration simmering beneath the surface.

He scoffed, his voice cold and sharp. “Do you truly believe it’s that easy to medicate a patient in this condition? Do you think we’ve been waiting around for you out of sheer boredom?”

Meanwhile, James was already in motion, his focus unwavering. He crushed the fever tablets into a fine powder, pouring them into the feeder with a practiced ease. Leaning in, he prepared to force-feed the patient, his confidence radiating from him.

But at Zachary’s words, he paused momentarily, casting a glance back at him, a tight, insincere grin plastered on his face.

“Of course, I’m still working on matching your practical skills, Dr. Rodriguez,” he replied, his tone mocking. “But when it comes to force-feeding test animals in the lab, I’d say I have the upper hand. You all seem too soft-hearted to be firm, but I refuse to stand idly by while you let a minor issue escalate into something far worse.”

His words were not just a jab at Zachary; they were a thinly veiled attack on Oriana as well.

Feeling sidelined, Oriana pressed her lips together, her brows furrowing in disapproval as she observed James preparing to administer the medication.

Her concern wasn’t for herself but for the patient. She feared that James might inadvertently harm him. Yet, as she glanced at Zachary, she noticed something curious—his expression wasn’t one of anxiety; in fact, he seemed almost entertained, as if he were waiting for the chaos to unfold.

So, she lowered her hand, opting to watch the scene play out in silence.

James let out a derisive snort, his arrogance palpable. With one hand pushing the feeder and the other prying open the man’s mouth, he skillfully lifted Barry’s lower lip with his pinky finger, ready to pour the powder in.

“See? Told you it’s simple—” he began, but before he could finish his sentence, Barry, feverish and disoriented, suddenly snapped his eyes open. With a mumbled protest, he sprang from the bed with a speed that took everyone by surprise. In one fluid motion, he twisted James’ arm behind his back, pinning him down with alarming efficiency.

“Aaaah—my arm! My arm!!” James cried out, panic flooding his voice. His injury hadn’t fully healed, and now he felt a sharp crack—a new injury compounding the old one.

He genuinely feared he might have broken something this time.

Barry straddled James’ back, his feverish face flushed but now fully alert. He spat the liquid medicine directly into James’ face, his voice booming with unexpected energy. “Trying to ambush me? Thief! I’ll take you out!”

With one hand, he twisted James’ arms behind him as if he were a mere rag doll. The other hand formed a gun shape, aimed squarely at James’ temple, his military training evident in his posture.

James, sputtering and furious, glared at the surrounding patients and nurses who were now laughing at his predicament. “Are you kidding me? Stop laughing and get him off me!” he shouted in exasperation.
