My Reborn Admirer Wins Over My Heart novel Chapter 117

**Chapter 117: Bridge Life and Death**

“This might sting a bit. Please, stay still.”

“Understood!” Barry exclaimed, his voice ringing out with unexpected enthusiasm.

The atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically; disbelief washed over the faces of everyone present. Just moments ago, Barry had been a whirlwind of agitation, yet now he was cooperating as if he were a completely different person.

James stood there, his eyes wide, resembling someone who had just encountered a ghost.

Zachary, too, wore a look of astonishment, his brows knitted together in confusion.

Oriana, with a steady hand, positioned the needle precisely at the Fengchi point, two inches above the horizontal crease on Barry’s inner wrist. She inhaled deeply, her heart racing as she twisted the needle, pushing it deeper until it was nearly fully embedded.

To her amazement, Barry didn’t flinch. It was as if he had become a statue, completely still and unyielding as Oriana worked.

James, unable to contain his concern, nearly bit his own tongue in disbelief. “Oriana, did you give him something to calm him down? This isn’t normal!”

Oriana remained silent, her focus unwavering as she continued to insert the needle, gently twisting the top with her fingertip.

Finally, the needle pierced through to the underside of Barry’s wrist, its tip emerging on the other side like a dark secret revealed.

James, with only a rudimentary understanding of traditional medicine, felt a wave of nausea wash over him, as if the procedure were being performed on his own hand. His face contorted in horror. “What on earth, Oriana? If you haven’t studied acupuncture, you shouldn’t just improvise! Who inserts a needle like that?”

“Enough of your chatter.”

Zachary interjected sharply, irritation evident in his voice. “This is child’s play. Stop talking if you don’t know what you’re saying.”

James’s expression was one of utter disbelief. “Ch-Child’s play?”

The head nurse leaned in closer, her voice barely above a whisper. “This technique is known as the ‘Bridge of Life.’ The needle goes through the Neiguan point. It’s often used in pediatrics to reduce fever. Unfortunately, most patients don’t cooperate, so we’ve never had the chance to use it effectively. But this young doctor has managed to keep Barry calm enough.”

The head nurse’s admiration for Oriana was palpable, her eyes shining with respect.

Barry had proven to be a challenging case recently, and Oriana had navigated the situation with remarkable skill. It was no wonder they were all impressed by her abilities.

With a gentle flick of her wrist, Oriana twisted the needle slightly before withdrawing it smoothly. She carefully placed Barry’s hand back down and draped the blanket over him, ensuring he was comfortable.

Barry’s gaze remained fixed on her, his eyes wide and unblinking, as if he feared that if he looked away, she would vanish into thin air.

Oriana lowered her voice, a soothing melody in the tense atmosphere. “Close your eyes. You need to rest properly.”

Barry’s eyes glistened with a hint of unshed tears, the redness around them betraying his exhaustion.

He appeared conflicted, torn between the urge to obey and the instinct to resist. But ultimately, he surrendered and slowly closed his eyes, drawing in a shaky breath.

Oriana glanced at the time on her phone, her heart racing with hope. “The fever should subside within half an hour.”

Zachary nodded with determination, turning to a nearby nurse. “Keep a vigilant watch on him.”

“Understood,” she replied, her tone serious.
