Oriana rushed to the department, changing into her white coat as fast as possible while quickly reviewing the patient’s condition.
The moment she pushed open the locker room door, she nearly collided with a pale–faced Nyla.
“Move! Don’t block the way!”
Nyla muttered distractedly and, in a near–falling motion, slammed into a locker, fumbling to change her
clothes.
Both her hands were visibly trembling, repeatedly failing to fasten the buttons.
Oriana furrowed her brows but didn’t linger, hurrying toward the operating room.
As soon as she finished sterilizing and entered, Nyla followed closely behind.
“Perfect. You two, run a CT scan on the patient’s abdomen first. We need to see exactly where that object is,” William instructed without looking back.
“Understood,” Oriana replied.
After emergency treatment, Kaelyn had regained some composure, now curled up in pain, groaning.
Nyla approached the bedside, her lips quivering. “Kaelyn.”
Hearing the familiar voice, Kaelyn forced her sweat–drenched eyes open, feeling a faint sense of relief. “Nyla, save me. I don’t want to die. Please help me.”
Oriana, preparing the examination instruments, glanced at them briefly and understood the situation.
Nyla clearly had a close relationship with Kaelyn; otherwise, she wouldn’t be this worried.
“How did it come to this? What did you even do?”
Kaelyn winced in pain. Facing her friend, she could barely speak.
“I’m sorry, Nyla. I didn’t listen to you and went to the yacht party. I really wanted that role. I never expected that investor to be so perverse. Nyla, please help me. That disgusting thing inside me; it hurts so much!”
Nyla tensed, struck by her words, her expression no less strained than Kaelyn’s curled–up form.
Suddenly, a large bottle of water appeared before Nyla, following the hand that held it, belonging to the ever–efficient Oriana.
“Give her water. Start the injection. Prepare for the abdominal CT.”
Nyla’s initial irritation at Oriana’s orders was cut short by Oriana’s low, firm words, “Your friend is in pain, begging for help. Are you going to let your own emotions get in the way?”

Oriana shoved the water into Nyla’s hands and turned to insert the IV line for Kaelyn.
“Kaelyn, are you conscious? If you can hear me, hold my finger. I’m going to explain what to expect during the abdominal CT.”
Seeing Oriana fully focused on the rescue, Nyla took a deep breath, forcing herself to clear her mind and treat Kaelyn like any other critical patient, dedicating herself to the care.
The abdominal CT results revealed Kaelyn had developed a severe intra–abdominal infection that had progressed to life–threatening peritonitis.
There was no time to waste. The specialists worked frantically, deciding on a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure to remove the living creature, minimizing post–operative complications and preserving the patient’s dignity and appearance.
An hour later, Kaelyn was transferred to a VIP ward.
Nyla followed closely.
Oriana discussed some professional details about the surgery with William and the other specialists, then changed out of her surgical attire, cleaned up, and stepped outside for a brief break.
It was her first time in an operating room. Although she was only the assistant, she had now completed the entire procedure, yet her hands wouldn’t stop trembling.
A life was on the line. Even the smallest role or position couldn’t afford any negligence or delay.
Leaning back on a chair in the hospital garden, Oriana watched the clouds drift slowly in the wind, her mind gradually calming.
She closed her eyes for a while when she heard the familiar click of high heels.
“Oriana?”
She didn’t need to open her eyes to know who it was.
