Chapter 183 Suspicion
Nyla’s eyes nearly popped out. “I know what you’re doing! You want me to back out of con beting for Mr. Harris’s students, Oriana! You’ve been waiting for today to manipulate me, haven’t you?”
Angry and humiliated, unwilling yet forced to yield, her eyes reddened under the blazing sun.
Through clenched teeth, she spat out, “Alright, you win this time!”
Finally, with a tearful, broken tone of surrender, she shut her eyes tightly and said, “As long as you keep Kaelyn’s secret, I’ll give up the graduate entrance exam. I won’t compete with you anymore!”
The mischievous smile on Oriana’s face gradually faded.
Seeing Nyla forced to abandon her dream, bowing her proud head in such discomfort, Oriana felt a surge of solemnity.
She must have underestimated Nyla, assuming she was always aloof, cruel, and indiscriminately harsh
toward others.
She hadn’t expected Nyla to sacrifice so much for a friend.
Nyla was deeply loyal.
Now, Oriana realized that continuing to toy with her would be too cruel.
She stood, putting away her teasing demeanor, and patted Nyla on the shoulder.
Her tone was calm. “Don’t think so little of me. If I had no professional integrity, how could I face Mr. Harris as a student?”
Nyla was stunned, tears streaking her cheeks as she looked at her. “Y–you what did you just say? You’re not lying?”
Oriana pulled a tissue from her pocket and handed it to her. “I won’t say a word about Kaelyn. Whether you take the exam or not has nothing to do with me.”
“Go comfort your friend. This time, the psychological trauma she suffered is no less than the physical pain.”
She walked past Nyla without another word.
Nyla stood frozen for a long moment before finally snapping back to herself. Then she shouted after Oriana, who was walking away. “Don’t think that just because you’re pretending to be good, I’ll let you have your way!”
Oriana kept walking, never looking back, and waved her hand.
Nyla blew her nose hard into the tissue, her eyes red, mumbling to herself, “What the heck, playing games with me! But why isn’t she like Luna described?”

That morning, Luna had been in the lab, her phone off, so she hadn’t received any notice from the Multi- Disciplinary Team.
It wasn’t until the afternoon, when she arrived at the clinic, that a duty nurse told her abou, the emergency patient that had come in the morning, and that Oriana and Nyla had assisted in the surgery.
Two people who were usually at odds together in the OR–how could it not have caused a scene?
Luna couldn’t help but smirk, casually asking the nurse, “Was the morning surgery smooth? No problems?”
The morning emergency had been confidential, but since Luna had come to the hospital, she’d bought quite a few high–end cosmetics as favors and got along reasonably well with the nurses and doctors. Plus, being Cormac’s student, the duty nurse didn’t hold her tongue too tightly.
“No, it went smoothly. The patient’s condition was critical, but the specialists were skilled. They minimized the surgical risks and trauma. The deputy director even came by afterward to personally praise everyone.”
Luna’s face fell instantly at the unexpected answer.
“Oriana and Nyla didn’t argue?” she pressed.
The nurse thought for a moment. “Seems not. They coordinated quite well. Mr. Harris even complimented their composure under pressure.”
She added a little flattery, “Of course, if Dr. Sterling had been there, the surgery would’ve been even faster and more perfect.”
“Really.”
Luna forced a smile, her envy unconsciously making her dig her nails into her palm.
Still unsatisfied, she searched for Nyla and was surprised to find her still in the ward, caring for the patient.
“Nyla?”
Luna called through the ward door, summoning her out.
