Micah thought for a moment, then said in a low voice, “But what the Sterling family did wasn’t fair to you.”
Rory had raised Luna with so much care and hardship, yet her own biological daughter had been exiled outside the family, even denied her true name.
To outsiders, Oriana must have seemed like an ungrateful girl who had enjoyed the Sterling family’s resources for over a decade.
Oriana smiled wryly. “Maybe, for them, all the money spent on me over the years was enough to buy all of my dignity.”
Micah felt her sadness and gently held her hand.
“I’m fine. I figured it out long ago. Matters of the heart can’t be forced. Love, family–they’re both blessings. At least I’m lucky; I’ve got both.”
Oriana smiled at him, recalling something. “Micah, when I’m off in a couple of days, let’s go home and visit Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Stone. I never properly thanked them for that banquet.”
“Sure, we’ll do that.”

Kaelyn recovered very well, and by the third day after surgery, she was discharged to recuperate at home.
As the semester neared its end, William temporarily set aside his work to personally teach his classes, going over the key points of the entire textbook for the students.
With no lectures to attend, Oriana had more free time and focused on her online course assessments as well as preparation for her graduate exams.
On Monday, Oriana had a day off.
Through Lily’s introduction, she and Micah planned a trip to a countryside strawberry farm, intending to pick fresh strawberries to bring back to the estate for the two elders to taste.
The farm was run by a senior from Jindiwood University’s agriculture department, specializing in strawberry cultivation and sales. Visitors could enjoy picking strawberries, participate in making strawberry wine and desserts, and buy all sorts of strawberry–flavored products–all made from the farm’s own berries.
It was Oriana’s first time experiencing such a rural activity, and she found it delightful,
The morning sun was just right. She eagerly led the way into the strawberry fields, while Micah quietly followed, holding her dress hem and carrying a small bamboo basket.
“Micah, which strawberries do you think will be the sweetest?
“Oh, wait–you probably don’t know. I’ll look up some tips!

She talked to herself, muttering away, while Micah listened silently, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Seeing her so happy made him naturally content.
“Micah, I found a really big one. Want to try it?”
After carefully choosing, Oriana finally picked the first strawberry.
She sniffed it, catching the sweet aroma tinged with a hint of green.
She hesitated, uncertain, and decided to let Micah test it first.
He knew her little quirks–she loved sweet things but hated sour surprises.
With a helpless smile, he leaned forward slightly, lips parting. “I’ll try it.”
Oriana handed him the strawberry. Micah bit into it, and his expression immediately showed he’d been hit by the sourness.
“This one’s no good, try another.”
Oriana quickly offered a second one.
Micah’s reaction was just as unmistakable.
“Still no? How about this one?”
Oriana scratched her head and handed him another.
After some time, the basket was finally filled with ripe, vibrant strawberries–but Micah’s eyes were dazed from the sourness, questioning life itself.
As they left the fields, Oriana handed him a bottle of mineral water. She clasped her hands apologetically.
“Rinse
your mouth. Sorry, I’m inexperienced picking strawberries for the first time. Luckily, the later ones weren’t as tricky!”
Micah took the water, twisted open the cap, and handed it back to her.
Oriana, puzzled, assumed he didn’t want to drink yet.
The sun had made her thirsty, so she took it and gulped a large mouthful.
Before she could swallow, a sudden grip around her waist yanked the bottle away. In the next second, the
water was gone.
Micah drank it all, still holding her close, savoring the playful struggle.
