My Reborn Admirer Wins Over My Heart novel Chapter 239

**Chapter 239: The Code of the Heart**

“If my memory serves me right, you and Luna were classmates at Seabar University, weren’t you?”

Oriana took a moment to gather her thoughts, her demeanor shifting to one of respect as she nodded.

“Yes, that’s correct. We were indeed in the same class.”

The atmosphere was thick with unspoken tension.

“Didn’t one of your classmates suffer a severe injury during the reunion? What brings you back to Jindiwood all by yourself?”

Cormac’s gaze held a hint of mockery, as if he found her aloofness amusing.

Oriana felt a chill run down her spine, momentarily paralyzed by the gravity of his question. But then, the pieces clicked into place.

Even though winter break had officially commenced, Cormac’s lab was still churning away, relentless in its pursuit of deadlines. Luna, in all likelihood, had fabricated her injuries to avoid being perceived as a burden to the team.

Raising an eyebrow, Oriana replied with a calm yet measured tone, “Yes, someone did get hurt, but it was merely a superficial wound. Nothing significant enough to impede everyone else’s progress.”

Cormac’s expression soured, as if the very words she spoke had struck a nerve.

Suddenly, as if a realization had dawned upon him, he turned on his heel and stormed off without another word.

Leo, who had been observing the exchange with keen interest, shot Oriana a few glances but chose to remain silent about her revelation regarding Luna. Without a second thought, he followed Cormac into the depths of the building.

“Wow, that guy is intense! Mr. Flint is honestly terrifying. Thank goodness for Mr. Harris; he’s so much more laid-back!” Lily whispered, her voice barely above a breath as they stepped away from the scene.

Once they were out of sight, Lily exhaled deeply, releasing the tension she had been holding.

Oriana chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Mr. Harris really is a breath of fresh air.”

“Absolutely! I also heard that James used to clash with you quite a bit, but then he crossed Mr. Flint and got booted from the MDT team. Apparently, Leo Ridge is still in his corner, but he’s barely scraping by. He doesn’t even get credited for the lab work anymore.”

Oriana hadn’t been keeping up with the latest gossip, but Lily’s words triggered a realization—she hadn’t spotted James at the last few group meetings.

Not that it particularly concerned her. “Come on, let’s go see Mr. Harris,” she said, her tone brightening.

“Sure thing!” Lily replied, her enthusiasm evident.

**Chapter 239: The Code of the Heart**

Luna was utterly baffled by how Cormac had caught wind of her little ruse. The moment he discovered that she had concocted excuses to avoid returning to Jindiwood, he unleashed a torrent of anger upon her, leaving no room for defense.

In the end, Cormac issued her an ultimatum that felt like a dagger to her heart. “By tomorrow, or else. If I don’t see you back at the lab, forget about being the second author on the paper.”
