**Chapter 34: A Video Call**
Micah’s voice rang out with an unexpected steadiness, “It’s true!”
Noah, having watched Micah navigate life from childhood to adulthood, felt an undeniable connection to him. He understood Micah better than anyone else could. Micah was a complex individual—solitary and stubborn, with a tongue that could slice through tension like a knife. Yet, when he spoke, it was always with unyielding sincerity; he never indulged in frivolous chatter.
In that moment, Noah instinctively placed a hand over his chest, his heart racing as if it were trying to escape.
It was as if the air itself had shifted. A whirlwind of emotions surged within him, a blend of sheer excitement and overwhelming joy. Albert, standing nearby, leaned in closer to Noah, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
After twenty-seven long years, Micah was finally off the market!
“Micah, what on earth prompted this sudden change of heart? What about your wife? Why are you only sending me pictures of yourself? Who cares how good you look in those shots? I want to see her!” Noah’s voice was laced with urgency, his mind racing with questions.
“Not the right time yet,” Micah replied, maintaining his calm demeanor.
Noah’s frustration bubbled over. “You’ve already got the marriage license in hand! What do you mean it’s not the right time? Why are you keeping her from me?”
While Noah’s tone grew frantic, Micah remained unflappable, his composure almost infuriating.
He interjected smoothly, “We had a sudden marriage, and the contract is set for two years. After that, she could choose to divorce me at any moment.”
Noah and Albert were momentarily frozen, their minds grappling with the implications of Micah’s words. Here was a man who was married, yet he could face the possibility of his wife leaving him at any time within the next two years.
“You’re so useless,” Noah lamented, running a hand through his hair in exasperation.
He understood Micah’s temperament all too well. The fact that Micah had agreed to a hasty marriage suggested he must genuinely have feelings for this girl. However, the two-year clause hinted that Micah was relying on strategy rather than romance to keep her by his side.
“I’m just informing you that I’m married now. So please, stop trying to set me up with women,” Micah stated bluntly. “You don’t need to meddle in my affairs. She’s shy.”
“I know that,” Noah replied, shaking his head. “You’ve always been so absorbed in your computer codes that you never learned how to interact with women. Do you want me to give you some pointers? Women appreciate feelings. Affection develops over time. You’re handsome and healthy—that’s already a significant advantage.”
Noah’s frustration was palpable as he glared at the blank screen after Micah hung up, his cheeks puffed out in irritation. “I’ve tried to teach him, but he’s so ungrateful! Now he’s starting to act a bit too high and mighty!”
Albert, his cheeks tinged with a slight blush, hesitated before speaking. “Mr. Caldwell, are you actually considering corrupting Micah?”
Noah almost suggested a plan of seduction, but he held back.
“Exactly! His temper is like a storm, and his words can be poison. Thankfully, he’s got the looks to back it up. But what happens if he doesn’t handle this properly? What if the girl decides to leave him?”
