**He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
**Chapter 35: Grant’s Anger**
The Jindiwood project had initially passed the first draft with relative ease, but that was before Grant decided to send it back with a vengeance. He unleashed a torrent of frustration upon the planning department, his voice echoing through the office like a thunderstorm. “This is unacceptable!” he roared, his eyes blazing with intensity. “I want a complete overhaul of this proposal, and I want it done tonight!”
A collective groan of despair rippled through the team. The air was thick with tension, and the weight of impending deadlines hung heavily over them. Finally, Alaric, feeling the pressure and sensing the desperation in the room, summoned his courage and stepped forward. “Grant,” he began cautiously, his voice steady despite the palpable anxiety, “what’s bothering you today? You’re not still upset with Oriana, are you?”
The instant Alaric’s words left his lips, Grant’s piercing gaze snapped to him, sharp enough to cut through steel. Alaric felt a shiver run down his spine, and for a fleeting moment, he considered turning on his heel and making a hasty retreat. Yet, he remained rooted to the spot, compelled by a mix of concern and duty. “Grant, maybe Oriana isn’t upset anymore. Yesterday was just too tense; she might feel awkward now, perhaps even too embarrassed to reach out first.”
Grant’s frustration bubbled over. “She was unreasonable! Am I supposed to grovel at her feet and apologize?” His tone was incredulous, as if the very idea was beneath him.
“In relationships, it’s crucial not to sweat the small stuff,” Alaric replied, striving to maintain a calm demeanor. “As a guy, you need to be the bigger person here. Just coax her a bit, and everything will smooth over.” He paused, gauging Grant’s reaction before continuing. “Remember when Oriana chased after you? You gave her the cold shoulder more times than I can count, yet she endured it. Now, think of this as your chance to make amends. Oriana loves you deeply—she’s probably been waiting for you to come back to her all along.”
Grant’s expression softened, the storm clouds of anger beginning to dissipate as Alaric’s words took root in his mind. “You really think so?” he asked, a hint of vulnerability creeping into his voice.
“Absolutely!” Alaric replied with a reassuring smile, relieved to see Grant’s demeanor shifting. “Grant, take a deep breath. No one in the world could be as inseparable as you two. Oriana can’t leave you; you are her anchor in this chaotic world.”
As Grant contemplated Alaric’s words, his thoughts drifted to Oriana, recalling her unwavering devotion and the way her eyes sparkled with love and longing whenever she looked at him. He had acted impulsively that afternoon, and the sight of her blocking him had thrown him off balance completely. Perhaps, he mused, she had simply been too angry yesterday, allowing her emotions to cloud her judgment. After a full day of reflection, she might have calmed down.
With a silent sigh, he pushed those thoughts aside, catching Alaric’s encouraging wink and smile.
“Alright, back to work,” Grant declared, his tone shifting to a more professional note.
“Understood,” Alaric replied, a hint of relief evident in his voice.
As the day drew to a close, Grant promptly exited the office, eager to escape the confines of the building.
The planning department craned their necks, watching as he left. “Mr. Holloway’s gone. Are we still having tonight’s second-version meeting?” one of the team members asked, uncertainty lacing their voice.
Alaric waved them off dismissively. “Go home. We’ll tackle it tomorrow.”
A chorus of cheers erupted from the team, their spirits lifting at the prospect of an unexpected reprieve.
Settling into his car, Grant loosened his collar, feeling the weight of the day begin to lift. Just as he was about to start the engine, his phone rang, interrupting the moment of relief.
