I dial Taipo’s number as I walk back to my room to pack an overnight bag, he answers on the second ring. “What do you need, Hondo?” He asks as he answers my call.

“A bed to crash in for the night and a chance to do some sneaking around in Bronze Crest Pack.” I tell him as I walk into my room and I lock the door behind me. “Alpha Alayah needs a few answers before she comes down there, but she will be coming.”

For a moment it is quiet on the other end of the line, “Alpha Ivar has agreed to your sleepover.” Taipo says before he ends the call and I smile as I toss my phone on my bed to grab an overnight bag. I pack three sets of clothes, you can never be to careful and I’d rather not end up butt naked because I shifted without taking my clothes off.

I mean as a Lycan I am not shy to be naked, but getting looks from females when I am naked isn’t something I really like. So to make sure that never happens again, I always pack enough clothes. I also pack my laptop, I need it to show Taipo why I am investigating Bronze Crest Pack and I know he will be out for blood.

“Dave has been stripped of his title as Head Tracker and has been banished from our territory. He has an hour to leave or he will be killed on sight, same punishment if he ever sets foot in our territory again.” I hear Alayah says through a Pack wide mind–link.

I get into my SUV and start my drive down to Bronze Crest Pack, if I am lucky I will arrive there before dinner. That will give me enough time to tell Taipo exactly why I am there and to find out if he knows anything about those families.

A Warrior at the gate asks for my name and after showing him my ID he waves me through. I follow the direction Taipo gave me when I called him an hour ago and I smile when I see a cottage come into view, no neighbors to close by.

I grab my phone from the seat next to me and I see I have a message from Taipo, Make yourself at home, I won’t be long. I walk into the cottage with my bag and as I look around I put my bag on a chair in the kitchen, his Grandparents have made a really nice home here.

Vallin has been pacing in my head ever since I stepped inside, we can both smell a scent that is unfamiliar to us. “It reminds me a bit of Janina.” Vallin says and after inhaling deep, I have to agree with him.

I go in search of a room to place my stuff in and as I slowly walk up the stairs the scent we smelled downstairs becomes stronger, it is definitely a Feline but not a Leopard. There is only one scent in the entire cottage and it leaves me with a huge question.

The front door opens as I am in the kitchen preparing dinner, the scent I can smell all through the cottage comes closer. “Hello, Taipo. Had a nice run?” I ask as I flip the burgers, I am not much of a cook but I know how to bake a burger.

When Taipo doesn’t respond I turn around to look at my friend and I nearly drop the spatula to the floor, When Vallin tells me there is a connection with Taipo. I slowly take a step forward, but Taipo takes one back at the same time, “I know you are a Feline shifter, but I also know you’re not a Leopard.” I say as I keep looking at him.

“How.. How..” Is all he manages to stutter and I smile at him before I say, “Our Gamma is forming a Mate- bond with a Leopard and our Beta is forming a Mate–bond with a Bear.” I answer his unspoken question.

“A Bear?” He asks before he sits down in a high chair. “I never met a Bear shifter in my life, nor a Leopard for that matter.” It is clear to see on his face that he is stunned and I decide to give him some time to wrap his head around everything.

I continue with my burgers and once I am done, I turn to the table with two plates in my hand. We eat dinner in silence, but at least he didn’t move away from me when I sat down next to him. Taipo clears the plates from the table without saying a word and after rinsing everything I used to prepare our meal he places it in the dishwasher.

“You know I came here with a reason and I need you to hear me out, even though I know it won’t be easy.” I tell him, before I explain why Alayah wanted me to come here. He listens to what I have to say without interrupting me and I address every family that has committed crimes against other Pack–members.

“There is something you need to know about the Parks family, their Daughter, Dusya, is the reason why your Mother left Bronze Crest Pack.” I open the file on my laptop as I talk and I place it on his lap to let him read the file. I move closer to him, because I am hoping that Vallin and I are able to keep him calm.

I can feel the anger rise inside him and before he can toss my laptop across the room, I pull it away from him. I wrap both my arms around him, I don’t want him to do something rash. “She will get what is coming to her, Alayah will make sure of that.” I whisper as I hold him in my arms, listening to him cuss and swear under his breath.

I don’t know how long we have been sitting on the couch, before I feel him finally calming down. “What does our Alpha need?” He asks and I smile at his referral to Alayah as our Alpha.

“She wants to know how it is possible that none of the leaderships ever found out. This has been going on for nearly a century and it has ruined a lot of lives. Justice will be served.” I tell him.
