Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 104

Before the conflict between them could escalate further, an officer promptly intervened.

He could see it clearly now—this bunch of heirs from top-tier wealthy families were all troublemakers, each one more difficult than the last.

The officer was eager for them to leave and urged Jonathan to go handle the paperwork.

Jonathan signed the forms and quickly led Tobias out of the police station.

On the way out, Tobias chattered endlessly, “Wow, that was a satisfying fight tonight. When Stephanie finds out, she’ll definitely praise me for getting her some sweet revenge.”

Then, Tobias sighed. “Speaking of which, it’s a pity Stephanie doesn’t have her own family to back her up. And her mother is so unreliable. How could she just stand by and watch her get bullied without doing anything?”

“Jonathan, I don’t think Quennel has learned his lesson. Maybe I should arrange for someone to rough him up a few more times privately?”

Jonathan watched Tobias ramble on, then turned to him, his tone unreadable. “You seem to enjoy calling her ‘Stephanie.’”

“Of course!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Tobias belatedly realized that something was off about Jonathan's tone.

His heart tightened. No way. Was Jonathan getting jealous over something like this?

Jonathan opened the car door and got in.

Tobias deliberately changed the subject. “Jonathan, I’ve actually been very curious. A man like you… I would have believed it if you’d never gotten married in your life. So how did you end up getting secretly married?”

Jonathan’s long fingers slid over the wheel of a lighter, caressing it gently without saying a word.

Seeing his silence, Tobias rephrased his question. “Just how charming is Stephanie? How did she manage to get a man who never came home at night to start heading back before dark these past few days?”

Someone like Jonathan had a very faint concept of ‘home’ since childhood.

Houses were mostly just for show; he’d rather sleep on a sofa in a private club room than go home.

But now, he was like a different person.
