Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 109

Tobias, who had been quietly watching the drama unfold from the back seat, froze. He belatedly realized that Jonathan's “get out” had been directed at him.

No wonder. He knew Jonathan couldn't be so ungentlemanly.

Tobias immediately opened the car door and scurried off. “You got it, Jonathan! I’m getting out right now!”

In the car, Stephanie paused, the tears still fresh on her face.

So he wasn't talking to her?

But somehow… that felt even more embarrassing. How mortifying. Why was she crying?

Stephanie tried to hold back her tears, but just then, the man’s hand gently brushed against her cheek.

Jonathan wiped away the stray wetness with his fingers.

Stephanie's cheek was cool, Jonathan’s fingers were scorching.

The touch felt like a collision of ice and fire.

She stared at him, stunned.

Outside the car, Quennel and Tobias were still craning their necks, but the tinted windows likely blocked their view.

Jonathan suddenly leaned forward, moving closer to Stephanie, one arm propped up beside her.

“Stop crying, dear.”

Seeing his magnified face so close, Stephanie's heart began to race uncontrollably.

He was so close his nose was almost touching hers.

Stephanie couldn't help but hold her breath.

Her gaze shifted downward slightly. From her angle, she could just see the view inside Jonathan's black shirt.

Abs, a trim waist, and two V-lines that were both subtle and powerful… all on full display.

He had a great body.

She swallowed hard.

Click...

The seatbelt was pulled out.

Stephanie froze, meeting Jonathan’s narrow eyes.

His long arm reached around her, and with a click, he fastened the seatbelt. Then he chuckled.

The man’s deep voice held a strange gentleness in the night—

“You’d better think of a reasonable explanation for tonight’s events.”
