Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 137

Stephanie suppressed the ripple in her heart and focused on her food.

Why was she overreacting?

He wasn't wrong, after all.

Stephanie hadn't eaten breakfast when she left this morning. Now she was taking one bite after another, her cheeks puffed out.

She was so focused that she didn't notice Jonathan beside her, his deep eyes fixed on her without blinking.

Suddenly, the man lifted her chin with two fingers.

Stephanie looked up in surprise.

He gently wiped a crumb of cake from the corner of her lips with his finger.

His expression was so serious, as if he were carving a piece of exquisite jade.

The faint scent of pine wafted over from him, mixed with a hint of aftershave—a fresh, slightly cool fragrance.

The proximity was deadly. Stephanie lowered her eyes.

But Jonathan looked into her eyes. "So, now that you've had something you like, are you still upset?"

Stephanie paused, looking up blankly.

How did he know she was in a bad mood?

The cake was sweet, the milk was sweet, and the sugary taste took over her taste buds, seeming to brighten her mood as well.

A ray of sunlight slanted in through the car window, glinting off the gemstone cufflink on Jonathan's wrist.

Meeting his clear, bright gaze, Stephanie slowly nodded.

Jonathan suddenly smiled. "Good. As long as you like it."

Just as he finished speaking, he seemed to notice something. He suddenly looked out the sunlit window, his deep eyes narrowing.

Outside the car, a Porsche Cayenne pulled up next to the car.

The two luxury cars were parked side by side. The Cayenne's door was opened from the inside, and Quennel stepped out with his long legs.
