Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 142

That afternoon, Cecilia met Stephanie for lunch at a restaurant.

The story about Victoria had spread like wildfire. Various versions were already circulating on Facebook, and within a few hours, Cecilia had heard all about it.

“Victoria really had it coming!”

“You’re one to make big moves quietly!”

Stephanie chewed on her straw and took a sip of juice, her cheeks puffed out. “Let’s not talk about her. Why have you been so busy lately?”

“This stupid job... I’m tired of dealing with my boss’s moods all day, and my paycheck is gone before the month is even over. I’m so busy I barely have time to eat.”

“I should just quit and come work for you.”

“I’ve barely figured things out for myself. How could you work for me?”

She’d caused such a huge mess on her very first day at OALA Group. Even though the situation was resolved, she hadn't exactly established a firm footing yet.

“But you have Meridian Consortium! You should take it back from Quennel, pull some strings for me, and get me a job in your PR department. Like a Public Relations Specialist or something.”

Stephanie thought about it. It was actually a good idea.

Cecilia had experience in media, and the PR department’s main job was to deal with the press. It was a tailor-made role for her.

“Once Jonathan and I sort out the details of the transfer, you can start.”

Cecilia was shocked. “You’ve been married this long and you still haven’t talked about it?”

“For a married couple, it’s just moving an asset from one pocket to another. You could sort it out in bed one night. It’s not that complicated, is it?”

Quennel was just her fiancé, and he was allowed to run Meridian Consortium for almost a decade.

Jonathan was her actual husband. You two have a marriage license, a relationship that's legally recognized and protected. Of course it should be even simpler!

Hearing this, Stephanie's expression grew awkward. “Actually... we haven’t... slept in the same bed.”

Cecilia’s jaw dropped.
