Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 155

She said, "Something came up, so I was a bit late. Is your offer from last night still on the table?"

Jonathan took a thick file from his drawer. "Have a look."

Stephanie took it and sat down to read it carefully.

It was an acquisition contract. She was surprised by how efficient the lawyers were; they had drafted this hundred-page document in just half a day.

But it was less an acquisition contract and more a power of attorney.

She would authorize Jonathan personally to handle all of Meridian Consortium's affairs, while she retained profit-sharing rights and final decision-making authority.

In return, Jonathan pledged to merge one of his subsidiary companies, whose business was similar to Ironhold Investment Group's, with Meridian Consortium.

The contract explicitly stated that the merger would be completed within the next two years.

Two years... Stephanie's fingers curled slightly. Their marriage contract was only for one.

Flipping to the last page, Stephanie froze. There was a supplemental agreement.

"What's this?" she asked.

"I've reviewed the prenuptial agreement you signed with my grandmother. Many of its clauses are unreasonable."

Jonathan's eyes darkened slightly. "I was unaware of it at the time. To be fair, we should sign a new one."

Stephanie had no objections.

She opened it to read, and her heart skipped a beat.

What was she seeing?

The agreement stipulated that Jonathan would transfer all his personal assets—real estate, stocks, bonds, funds, and so on—into her name.

What was this man trying to do?

Stephanie stared blankly, unable to process it for a moment. "Jonathan, you..."

"Don't be surprised. This is my wedding gift to you. I, Jonathan Vasquez, don't shortchange my wife. This is what you deserve."

The man sat in his chair, his expression unchanged.

Stephanie was speechless for a long time.

Then she noticed that Jonathan had left himself 1% of all his assets.

"What's this 1% for?"
