Jonathan, sitting in a town car on his way to the airport, felt his face instantly turn cold and grim. "What did you say?"
Tobias laid it on thick. "They're getting a room! Quennel is about to sleep with your wife! They're going to get it on! Can you imagine what'll happen when they get behind a closed door after all this time? It'll be explosive!"
Jonathan's lips pressed into a thin line. His deep-set eyes were like dark whirlpools. In the photo, Quennel was looking tenderly in Stephanie's direction, his eyes filled with emotion.
Jonathan tossed his phone aside, his hands clenching into tight fists, the veins on their backs standing out in sharp relief.
He closed his eyes and said in a low, tense voice to the driver, "Turn around."
...
From a distance, Quennel had spotted Stephanie and was about to walk toward her when a waiter carrying a tray of red wine stumbled into him.
Quennel, caught off guard with his attention fully on Stephanie, was about to be drenched in wine when a woman suddenly threw herself into his arms, shielding him from the spill.
The waiter, seeing his plan had failed, could only stammer an apology. Vivian had instructed him to dirty Quennel's suit and then lead him to a dressing room, creating an opportunity for them to be alone.
But the waiter hadn't anticipated someone else jumping in. Fearing Quennel's wrath, he quickly turned and fled.
Quennel looked down in shock at the woman in his arms. "Victoria?"
The red wine had soaked Victoria from head to toe. She didn't have an invitation to an event like this; she had snuck in just to see Quennel.
Victoria had only stayed one night in the apartment Quennel had arranged for her before the locks were changed and all her belongings were thrown out onto the street. Quennel was serious about cutting ties with her.
For a man from such a powerful family, getting rid of a girl from the slums was an effortless task.
Victoria was at her wit's end. She had also injured Dave's eyes, and now she couldn't even return to her old place.
"Quennel... don't leave me."
