Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 194

Quennel was incredulous. “Stephanie, what are you talking about? You were there to cheer for me that day!”

Stephanie smiled. “Yes, I was a cheerleader, so of course I was there to cheer for you. But that doesn’t mean I couldn’t also celebrate the winner. Jonathan won, and his performance was brilliant, wasn’t it?”

Quennel was speechless.

He couldn't deny that while the inside overtake was dangerous, it had looked incredibly cool when it succeeded.

His voice was weak. “You’ve liked him ever since then?”

“It was just simple admiration. As for why we got married, he was the one who passively accepted.”

Jonathan had indeed been passive. After all, he hadn’t even known his grandma. had arranged a wife for him. Thinking back on it, Stephanie felt the whole thing was so dramatic.

But Quennel, unaware of these intricacies, was clearly misled. He was shocked. “What did you say? You were the one who proposed to him?”

He grew more agitated as he thought about it, a knot of pain tightening in his chest.

“Stephanie, you’re just doing this to get back at me! You felt bitter about me and Victoria, so you just found some random person to marry… you’re just acting recklessly out of spite.”

“He wasn’t just some random person.”

Stephanie stood there quietly, a few strands of hair falling onto her shoulder. A faint smile touched her lips as if she was recalling something. “I liked the way he unzipped his racing suit with one hand when he won.”

Quennel was stunned into silence.

It was plausible.

It was completely plausible that a girl of that age would be attracted to a roguishly handsome and spirited young man like him.

Outside the door, Jonathan couldn't help but grin.

Tsk. So she didn’t like his looks or his body, but the way he took his clothes off.

Well, that worked too.
