Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 207

She wanted to spend more time with Quennel, even just half an hour more. “I didn’t drive, Quennel. Can you take me home? Please?”

Quennel’s brow furrowed as he stared at Vivian for a few seconds.

She thought he was about to refuse, but to her surprise, he relented. “Alright.”

A short while later, the car pulled up in front of a pharmacy. The driver got out and returned with a small bag.

Quennel took it and opened the contents himself.

Vivian saw the pink packaging and instinctively asked, “What’s that?”

“The morning-after pill.”

Quennel pinched the small pill between his fingers and brought it to her lips. “Good girl. Open up.”

His voice was so gentle, so alluring, that Vivian felt as if she were under a spell, and she obeyed without a second thought.

It wasn't until a bitter taste spread through her mouth that she snapped back to reality, realizing Quennel was afraid she might get pregnant with his child.

She knew the pill was hard on a woman’s body. A pang of hurt struck her, and she couldn't help but wonder, what if it had been Stephanie?

Would he have personally fed Stephanie this pill?

Seeing that Vivian had swallowed it, Quennel tugged at his tie, a gesture that suggested he had just resolved a major problem.

“Drew, take Ms. Yates home.”

“Quennel, I don’t want to leave you. Let me come back to your place with you.”

He turned to look at her, his gaze still just as gentle. “Have you forgotten what I just said? I prefer a woman with a little more restraint.”

“And besides, I don’t want our relationship to be too public.”

Vivian was stunned. “You want to keep me a secret? Am I someone you’re ashamed of? Is my status as the heiress to the Yates family not good enough for you?”
