Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 40

Quennel's eyes widened in clear astonishment. Before he could fully react, Victoria pulled away.

"I've wanted to do that ever since last night when you were drunk."

Victoria's eyes were filled with adoration as she gazed into his. "Quennel, give me a chance," she pleaded. "I want to be by your side, always."

Her actions had clearly caught Quennel completely off guard. She deliberately ignored the distance in his eyes, and just as he was about to speak, she placed a finger on his lips.

"Don't rush to reject me. Think about it. I'm not afraid to wait. I'll always be waiting for you."

With that, without waiting for his reaction, Victoria tilted her head, gave him a small smile, and turned to walk into Sapphire Group.

This entire sequence of events left several of Victoria's colleagues, who were standing nearby, completely stunned.

On her first day at the company, Victoria had mentioned to her curious colleagues that she had a boyfriend.

One of the gossiping colleagues hurried to catch up with her.

"Victoria, you never told us your boyfriend drives a Rolls-Royce Phantom!"

"He's so successful, and he even drives you to work himself. You two must be so in love!"

"Hey, does this mean you're about to marry into a wealthy family and become a lady of leisure?"

A colleague gave her a knowing smile. Victoria feigned shyness. "Don't be silly. We're still in the honeymoon phase. It's not that soon."

Stephanie, who was walking behind them, stopped, her gaze fixed on the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

A self-deprecating smile touched her lips.

Were the two of them putting on a show at her workplace just to spite her?

Yes, Stephanie had seen the whole thing.

She felt a pang of regret for her past self.

It seemed giving the bartender Victoria's number had been the perfect way to push them together for a night of passion.
