Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 46

It made sense. The heirloom bracelet from Mrs. Vasquez Sr. was incredibly valuable; her new "husband" was clearly not short on cash.

Stephanie dragged her suitcase to the door and unlocked it. As she'd expected, the house was empty.

It was, however, spotless, which meant someone must come by regularly to clean.

The interior was exquisitely decorated with an air of understated luxury.

Stephanie explored all three floors. Each level was its own distinct space, with a logical layout.

Her husband likely lived on the second floor, as she noticed clear signs of life there.

The master bedroom was large and included a walk-in closet filled with neatly arranged clothes, sorted by color.

She closed the door and backed away, not wanting to intrude on someone else's private space.

Finally, she carried her suitcase up to the third-floor master bedroom. This floor seemed to be rarely used, making it the perfect place for her to stay. That way, even when her husband returned from his deployment, they could have their own spaces and not disturb each other.

She had barely sat down to rest for a few minutes when her real estate agent called.

"Ma'am, did you forget you have an appointment with a client today to sign the sales contract for the house?"

Stephanie froze. She had completely forgotten.

She had been about to check the fridge for something to cook, but now she decided she'd just grab a bite to eat out after signing the contract.

"Where's the client?" she asked.

The agent replied, "Come to the house. They're already waiting in the community."

Unsure if Quennel had moved out yet, Stephanie asked, "Is there anyone else in the house?"
