Dawn had been so tired and sleepy at the time that she hadn't heard clearly at all.
She'd wanted to ask again, but when she went downstairs, Hannah said, "Ethan left for the office first thing this morning. He seemed to be in a hurry."
"Oh, I see." Dawn nodded.
Since he was busy, she'd better not bother him for now.
After finishing breakfast, she went to the office. Not long after, she received notice from Linda.
Roxanne had decided to participate in the creative process to ensure their designs were flawless. In other words, she'd be working alongside Dreammaker Studios' design department for the foreseeable future.
Janice was stunned. "Has this Ms. West never worked a regular job before?"
Linda shrugged. "That's why she's Ms. West. Not everyone operates on that level."
"Alright, enough chatter. When she gets here, just make sure you all take good care of her. Don't let anything go wrong."
With that said, the entire design department prepared for battle.
Less than 20 minutes later, commotion erupted at the entrance.
Janice acted like they were under attack, grabbing Dawn and pulling her up while urgently whispering in her ear, "Aren't you already pretty tight with her? You go!"
Dawn was dumbfounded.
She was pushed forward.
She stumbled and ended up right in front of Roxanne.
Her gaze took in Roxanne's designer heels, black stockings, and impeccably put-together outfit that made her look like a doll.
Roxanne smiled. "Dawn, we meet again."
"Mm, hey."
Dawn straightened up and shot Janice a glare.
Roxanne was even more enthusiastic than expected, waving her hand as if she were the host. "I'm just here to observe. Everyone do what you normally do. Don't let me influence you at all."
The designers exchanged glances before eventually returning to their stations.
"Dawn, where do you sit?"
Dawn pointed to a spot, and Roxanne walked over with easy familiarity.
Janice frowned in confusion and gave her a look. "Seriously? You two are that close?"
Dawn couldn't figure out what this heiress was up to either. She took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"Roxanne."
"Hmm?"
Roxanne had already taken her seat and was flipping through design sketches. She looked up with a smile. "I knew your design style wasn't so one-dimensional. Come on, show me what you've been hiding. Let me see your best work."
This level of familiarity made Dawn uncomfortable.
She forced out a smile. "What aspect would you like to know about? I can explain."
"You."
Dawn couldn't believe it.
She playfully winked at Dawn. "See you tomorrow."
Dawn was speechless.
She watched Roxanne walk into the elevator and slumped exhaustedly into her office chair.
Janice walked over sympathetically, handing her a bottle of water while shaking her head. "Is this Ms. West into women or something? Why is she only focused on you? I seriously think she likes you."
Dawn took the water and shot her a glance.
"If only she actually were into women."
"Huh?"
Dawn didn't explain, just sighed quietly while drinking her water.
So far, she didn't know what Roxanne was really after, but behind the seemingly friendly interaction, there was clearly an undertone of making things difficult.
Why?
Could it be that she'd stolen my man?
Dawn was amused by her own thoughts. She shook her head and stood up. "Whatever she's up to, I'm going home. Tomorrow's problems can wait until tomorrow."
She went downstairs to her car.
The dimly lit parking garage was empty.
Her phone rang. She took a deep breath and answered, "Hello?"
