Obedience No More He's the One I Deserved novel Chapter 258

After dinner in the living room, Dawn found a movie to watch.

Suddenly bringing up work, she couldn't help but ask, "Has Linda told you we landed a major client recently?"

"Hmm?" Ethan stretched his arm to let her lean more comfortably. "Are they difficult?"

So apparently she hadn't mentioned it.

Jackson Group had been busy lately, so it was normal they couldn't keep up with what was happening at Dreammaker Studios.

"Not exactly difficult." Dawn pursed her lips and found a comfortable position to lean against. "Just feels weird. It's like she's deliberately trying to get close to me."

Ethan's hand paused while stroking her hair. Dawn didn't notice and continued, "She's probably going to keep coming to the office to work with us. Says it's to oversee the designs, but really she's just watching me. It can't be that she's actually attracted to my winning personality and wants to be friends, right?"

Ethan's lips curved. "You have that kind of charm."

Dawn couldn't believe it. Was he complimenting me?

"Since it's work, keep it professional. Don't let it bother you outside of work hours. As for that person, if you don't want to deal with her, then don't."

"But she's a major client for the company. What if I offend her by ignoring her?"

Dawn glanced at him teasingly. "That doesn't sound very appropriate coming from you."

"Nothing inappropriate about it."

Ethan looked at the TV screen, mottled shadows reflecting in his dark pupils. "Besides, Dreammaker Studios is yours anyway. The boss has the right to do as she pleases."

There was no denying that words like these could easily make someone's heart flutter.

Dawn finally understood why women loved sweet talk.

She wrapped her arm around his and snuggled close with a light hum. "Then I should take even better care of her. Who's going to turn down money? I don't believe she can actually eat me alive."

Ethan was infected by her mood and chuckled softly.

But the next second, the emotions in his deep eyes grew more intense.

After the movie, they went upstairs, and Dawn went to wash up.

Ethan took out his phone and spun it in his palm. Two seconds later, he dialed a number. The other end picked up almost immediately.

"Ethan."

Roxanne's voice was full of excitement. "You actually still have my number. I knew you didn't mean what you—"

"Cut the crap!"

Ethan took a deep breath. His upbringing kept him from actually cursing at a woman.

He lowered his voice and said heavily, "Roxanne, what the hell are you trying to do?"

Roxanne fell silent.

After a long moment, her soft voice responded, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Don't know?" Ethan laughed coldly. "Don't tell me you didn't know I was married. You investigated everything thoroughly; otherwise, how would you have found Dawn?"

Dawn.

How intimate indeed.

"It's nothing."

Ethan's throat tightened. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead. "Minor issue. You go to sleep first."

He turned to wash up. Not long after he left, Dawn received a text from Roxanne. "I finally got the address. Dawn, do you have time tomorrow to come with me to deliver a gift?"

Followed by a pitiful emoji.

She'd be clingy at the office anyway, so going with her once wouldn't hurt.

Dawn replied with an "okay" and turned off her phone to go to bed.

When she woke up, she reached to the side.

Huh, this feeling ...

Dawn opened her eyes to meet a pair of smiling eyes.

She quickly pulled her hand back, but halfway through, Ethan caught it and pressed it back down. "Feel free to touch."

Dawn was at a loss for words.

His voice still carried the huskiness of morning, low and alluring.

Dawn couldn't quite handle it. She blinked at him. "Don't you usually get up really early? Why haven't you gotten up yet today?"

"No meetings today, so I'm sleeping in with you." Ethan wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace with a little force. "Is this comfortable?"
