The last sentence came out almost word by word, like she had to force it through her teeth.
When she finished speaking, she turned and walked away.
Sunny quickly followed, afraid of being left behind.
Her back looked cold and unyielding. The assistant couldn't help but speak up, "Mr. Curran ... "
Jonathan raised his hand to stop him and said in a deep voice, "Do as she said, and get it done quickly. But I don't want a fourth person to know about this. Make sure the school is taken care of, too. Don't let anyone know where Dawn is."
The assistant nodded respectfully. "Yes, sir."
The plan was set, but it would take time to arrange everything.
Jonathan no longer restricted Dawn's freedom like before, but she still had to travel with bodyguards and report her whereabouts.
Dawn didn't feel any happier. If anything, she talked even less.
While wandering around aimlessly, she unexpectedly ran into Anna.
Anna touched Dawn's thinner face, worried. "What's going on with you? You don't lose weight like this. Is it that jerk Ethan—"
"No," Dawn said.
She knew Anna had seen the news and shook her head with a smile.
"It's not him. It's just ... I've been in a bad mood lately."
"Really?"
Anna looked skeptical, but she didn't press it. She pulled Dawn toward her car. "Well, we can't have you feeling down. Come on, I'm taking you out. You need some proper cheering up."
Her way of cheering up was partying hard—lots of lights, drinks, and nightlife.
The four bodyguards almost couldn't keep up with her car.
Dawn got carried away, feeling like she needed alcohol to numb herself.
At the bar, they ordered a whole row of top-shelf drinks.
It had been so long since she'd drunk like this. Soon, Dawn felt dizzy. Her eyes scanned the room. Seeing the bodyguards distracted by the stage show, she sneered, stood up unsteadily, and headed for the restroom.
The hallway was filled with couples getting cozy and drunk guys whistling at Dawn.
Frowning, she covered her mouth and walked quickly.
Finally, she made it to the restroom, but nothing came up.
Leaning on the sink, Dawn lowered her eyes, feeling dizzy and awful.
It hurt so much ...
Her body hurt ...
Her heart ... also hurt.
While she was dazed, she suddenly heard a door unlock behind her.
Someone came in and closed the door.
A chill ran through her chest. Her hands tightened on the edge of the sink. It took a long moment before she slowly looked up.
Through the mirror, she saw the man standing behind her.
It had only been two days since she last saw him, but his handsome face was now shadowed with stubble, giving him a rougher look.
