On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 310

The police captain stepped forward. “That’s right. The doctor who sold you the drugs is already in custody. You’ll see him down at the station. You two can have a nice reunion. You’ll have plenty to talk about, seeing as you both used his special formula to murder your wives.”

“You monster!”

“I’ll kill you!”

Jessica finally broke free from Anthony’s grasp and launched herself at Kevin, clawing and hitting him with unrestrained fury. She wanted him dead, right then and there, by her own hands.

“How could you do that to my mother?” she screamed, her voice raw and cracking. “What did she ever do to you? Why did my innocent mother have to pay the price for your affair? Answer me! Answer me!”

The mask of civility finally dropped from Kevin’s face. He grabbed Jessica’s arms and threw her violently against a banquet table. Her body hit the sharp corner with a sickening thud.

“I’ll kill you, Kevin Brown!” she shrieked, grabbing a steak knife from the table and lunging at him.

Anthony pulled her back just as the police shielded Kevin. The momentum spun Jessica around, and the knife in her hand sliced across Anthony’s forearm. Blood bloomed through the fabric of his suit jacket.

Her hand went slack, and the knife clattered to the floor.

“I didn’t mean to,” she whispered, covering her ears. “I didn’t mean to…”

Ignoring his own injury, Anthony pulled her into his arms. “I know. I know everything. Calm down. You need to be strong and watch justice be served. You need to get justice for your mother.”

Isabella and Kevin were led away in handcuffs. The guests, having gotten their fill of drama, began to leave, their faces alight with the thrill of gossip. Though the meal was cancelled, the scandal was more than worth the trip.

Soon, only the Browns, the Smiths, and Anthony George remained in the vast, empty hall.
