On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 311

The evidence was overwhelming, the witnesses credible. At first, Kevin Brown and Isabella Charles denied everything. But when they realized there was no escape, they turned on each other, each desperately trying to pin the blame on the other to lessen their own sentence.

It was useless.

They were both found guilty of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder, and sentenced to life in prison.

A heavy gloom settled over the Brown Estate. Since Catherine’s wedding had been called off, she was still living there, but she was treated like a ghost. The staff ignored her, and no one called her for dinner. More than once, she came downstairs to find the kitchen empty and the leftovers already gone.

One night, she threw a tantrum. Willie Brown shut her down immediately. “If your mother is a murderer, that makes you a murderer’s daughter. You have no blood relation to this family. You should be grateful we’re letting you stay here at all. Don’t push your luck.”

“Willie, how can you say that to me?” Catherine cried in disbelief.

“I used to think you and your mother were decent people,” he spat. “Now I see your true colors. You broke up my marriage and pushed your own relatives on me, all so you could eventually get your hands on the Brown family fortune. Well, you can forget about it.”

Catherine was speechless. She went to Sarah Charles for help, but she just looked distressed. “Catherine, you and Isabella have ruined me. Willie barely speaks to me. The only reason he’s letting me stay is because of the baby. Please, don’t cause any more trouble. If I make him angry, he might kick me out, too.”

Catherine finally understood. She was completely alone.

That night, her belongings were packed and moved to the servants’ quarters. Furious, she stormed out, vowing she’d rather sleep on the street.

She went straight to Lance Smith.

At that exact moment, Lance was opening an email.
