Once She Came Like a Flash novel Chapter 29

**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 29**

It was no surprise that Renee had spotted Jasper on the Starlight Odyssey during her last adventure. The revelation that the luxurious cruise ship was, in fact, owned by him left her utterly flabbergasted.

She stood there, her mind racing to catch up with the sudden influx of information. How could she have missed this?

Wait a moment. That fateful night when her stomach had rebelled, causing her to be rushed to the hospital… Was it him who had come to her rescue then as well?

The threads of fate seemed to weave a tapestry of coincidences that felt increasingly implausible.

Jasper was clad in a snug white athletic ensemble, complemented by a baseball cap that cast a shadow over his eyes. This casual attire softened his typically distant demeanor, lending him a youthful vibrancy that was hard to ignore.

With one hand casually tucked into his pocket and the other gripping a golf club, he turned his head slightly at the sight of Renee. His piercing gaze flicked toward Luke, sending an unmistakable signal of warning and discontent.

That single glance was enough to send a chill down Luke’s spine, turning his palms clammy with anxiety.

“Haha! Well, if it isn’t Renee! What a delightful coincidence. Are you here for a round of golf as well?”

The voice belonged to Chris Jackson, the formidable head of Cloudron Group. Renee had encountered him a few times during her tenure at Ascend Group, and those memories resurfaced with a mix of familiarity and discomfort.

Chris was a stocky, sun-kissed man in his mid-forties, his hairline receding like a tide pulling back from the shore. He wasn’t exactly what one would call handsome, and his reputation as a notorious flirt in the business world was well-known. However, there was no denying his acumen; Cloudron Group was flourishing under his leadership, rendering him a figure that few dared to cross.

Renee forced a polite smile, though it felt more like a mask than a genuine expression. “Yes, I was supposed to meet a friend, but she got caught up in something. She said she’d arrive a little later.”

What friend?

The thought echoed in her mind, a bluff she had conjured in a moment of desperation.

In truth, she had dashed to the Northville Golf Club solely because she had learned Jasper would be there. There had been no time to fetch someone else for cover.

Moreover, this venture was primarily a strategic move.

Casting a subtle glance toward Jasper, she mustered the courage to approach him.
