Oops I Accidentally Ended Her Fake Perfect Life novel Chapter 25

**Across the Fallen Golden Kingdom Distant Fires by Damon S. Creed**

Chase could hardly contain his fury. “You expect me to hand over the Whitmore Group—to him!?” His voice rose, echoing off the sterile walls of the conference room, filled with tension and disbelief.

Dominic, seated across from him, remained unnervingly composed, a slight nod of his head the only acknowledgment of Chase’s outburst. “Do you have any other option?” he replied, his tone measured and calm, as if they were discussing the weather rather than the fate of a business.

Nora, leaning into Dominic with an air of tranquility, appeared untouched by the storm brewing around them. She regarded Chase with a mix of pity and resolve. “Chase, no one is trying to ruin you. You did this to yourself,” she said, her voice steady, embodying the strength he had once admired.

Frantic, Chase’s heart raced, desperation clawing at him. “I did it to win you back!” he exclaimed, a wild thought springing to his mind. “If I merge the company, does that mean you’ll forgive me? That you’ll come back to me?” The words tumbled out, a last-ditch effort to cling to hope.

Her response was as cold as ice. “I will never go back to you.” Nora’s gaze held a finality that cut deeper than any blade. “Because I’m pregnant—with Dominic’s child. Chase, it’s over.” The weight of her words crashed down on him like a tidal wave, leaving him gasping for air.

The double blow struck him like a physical force, nearly sending him spiraling into madness. In a moment of blind rage, he lunged at Dominic, fists flying, but the scuffle was futile. Dominic, a practiced fighter, easily overpowered him, leaving Chase bloodied and bruised, his pride shattered along with his face.

“Chase,” Dominic hissed, looking down at him with a mixture of disgust and pity, “if it weren’t for the fact that you once saved my fiancée’s life, I swear I’d beat you to death right here.” The disdain in Dominic’s voice was palpable, each word dripping with contempt. “After what you did to her, you don’t deserve prison—you deserve damnation.”

The Whitmore Group, once a towering symbol of Chase’s ambition, crumbled under the weight of his choices. In the end, he had no choice but to merge it with the Faulkner Group, watching helplessly as it was reduced to just another subsidiary, a shadow of its former glory.

Not long after, the walls closed in further. Chase found himself arrested for distributing illegal videos online, a desperate act that sealed his fate. “Mr. Whitmore,” the officer said, his voice devoid of sympathy, “you’re under investigation for coercing an abortion against the woman’s will. Please come with us.” The reality of his situation sank in as the handcuffs clicked shut.

Following a thorough investigation that confirmed the allegations against him, Chase was officially detained, the walls of his cell closing in like a vice. In a moment of vulnerability, he pleaded with Nora, and she reluctantly agreed to meet him one last time behind bars.

As he grasped the prison phone, his hands trembled, the silence stretching between them like a chasm. Finally, Nora broke the tension. “Why call me here, Chase?” she asked, her voice a mixture of curiosity and caution.

Chase shook his head, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I just wanted to see you one more time,” he admitted, the weight of his regret pressing heavily on his chest. After a moment’s hesitation, he continued, “Nora… I did love you. I didn’t just marry you for the financial crisis. I really did have feelings for you.”
