Oops I Accidentally Ended Her Fake Perfect Life novel Chapter 7

**Across the Fallen Golden Kingdom Distant Fires by Damon S. Creed**

I stood resolute, unmoved by the emotional turmoil swirling around me, as my biological parents turned their desperate gazes toward my adoptive mother.

“It was our mistake in the past,” my biological mother began, her voice trembling with regret. “But as mothers, Evelyn is our flesh and blood. How could we not care for her?”

My biological father added, “We’ve been separated from our daughter for over a decade. Every single moment since we uncovered the truth has felt like a knife twisting in our hearts.”

Their eyes, glistening with unshed tears, pleaded for understanding, and I could see the conflict reflected in my adoptive mother’s kind expression. After a brief pause, her gentle voice broke through the tension. “Evelyn, why don’t you consider giving them another chance?”

I knew her heart was pure; it was her compassion that had brought me from the depths of despair, taking me in when the world had cast me aside.

Taking a deep breath, I approached them, my heart a whirlwind of emotions. “I can work with you to clarify things, but how the rest unfolds depends entirely on your actions.”

Their relief was palpable, and I could see the glimmer of tears threatening to spill from their eyes.

When I had lived with them before, I had occupied the guest room, a space that felt temporary and distant. Now, they had transformed the largest master bedroom into a sanctuary just for me.

They had even doubled my allowance, showering me with gifts and gestures that felt overwhelming.

In their eagerness to make amends, they had undertaken renovations in my adoptive parents’ home, creating a space that felt warm and inviting.

Ophelia, my biological mother, had even gone so far as to plead with the prison guards, sending messages to my biological parents, urging them to visit her and seek a lawyer to secure her release, but they had flatly refused.

Despite their sincerity, I couldn’t offer them forgiveness easily. Still, I made an effort to meet them halfway, cautiously opening the door to reconciliation.

Yet, there were moments when I would catch sight of my biological mother, lost in thought, staring blankly at Ophelia’s room, her expression a mixture of longing and regret. I chose to remain silent, letting her grapple with her emotions unburdened by my presence.

The day of Ophelia’s trial arrived, and both my biological parents, Orion, and I made our way to the courthouse.

The time spent in prison had stripped Ophelia of her former allure, replacing it with a stark reality. Clad in prison garb, her hair appeared dry and brittle, yet when our eyes met, I could still see the fury burning within her.

“It’s her fault! She did this to me! Evelyn, why did you have to return to the Sullivans? Why didn’t you just die?” she screamed, her voice echoing through the courtroom.

But then, her gaze fell upon my biological parents standing beside me, and the fury in her eyes shifted to despair. Tears streamed down her face as she cried out, “Mom, Dad, why won’t you see me? Do you not want me anymore?”
