Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 130

Yvonne made her way down to the parking garage and slid into her own car, sending Marico a quick text to say the party had ended and she was heading home.

A subtle check-in for safety’s sake, she thought.

She didn’t expect him to call her immediately.

“Heading straight back?” Marico asked, just as he reached the restaurant’s private lounge.

“Yeah,” Yvonne replied, fastening her seatbelt as she spoke.

“Oh, by the way, there’s something I wanted to talk to you about. When are you coming back? Or are you not coming home tonight?” His tone was casual, but there was a hint of anticipation.

As Yvonne clicked her seatbelt into place, she glanced up and spotted a familiar white Rolls-Royce parked a few spaces away. That was Xenia’s car—the same one she’d noticed at the Rolex boutique earlier.

“I might be a bit late,” Marico said, just as William pushed open the door to the private lounge.

Yves had thrown an early birthday dinner, mainly to invite a young but renowned medical professor who’d just returned from abroad. If things went well, they’d ask him to visit the hospital to see Yves’ grandmother.

Yvonne listened to Marico’s answer, but didn’t pry further. After all, it wasn’t her place to meddle in his private life.

The noise on his end suddenly grew louder. She wrapped things up quickly. “Alright, I’m going to start driving.”

“Drive safe,” Marico reminded her, his voice low and steady.

Just as she was about to hang up, she heard Cornelia rush in, her voice anxious: “Marico, Xenia’s missing!”

Yvonne caught the commotion through the phone before the call abruptly ended.

She stared at her screen, watching the words “Call Ended” pop up, and pressed her lips together in frustration.

Starting her engine, she pulled out of the garage and headed home, assuming Marico must’ve hung up because he was worried about Xenia. She had no idea he’d simply hung up at the exact moment Cornelia burst in with the news.

“She just stepped out—how could she be missing?” Yves was visibly more agitated than anyone else.

Marico frowned, slipping his phone into his pocket. “William, help search for her. I’ll wait for Dr. Moore.”

It took nearly twenty minutes before they found Xenia in the emergency stairwell. Her face was swollen and blistered, and she’d slipped into unconsciousness...

By the time Yvonne parked at home, her phone lit up with a call from Tina.

“Yvonne, are you home? Everything okay?” Tina’s voice was laced with concern.

Yvonne locked her car and stepped into the elevator. “I’m home, nothing happened. Why?”

“Oh, thank God. I just overheard Yolanda and Crystal boasting in the bathroom, swearing they’d ruin your face and turn you into a monster. When I couldn’t reach you earlier, I thought they were giving you trouble—I was scared to death.”

“I was just driving, couldn’t pick up.”

“Oh my god—wait, the police are here!” Tina’s voice jumped, and Yvonne heard her shuffle to the side as officers flooded the venue.

“The police? What happened?” Yvonne was stunned. How had a simple dinner party escalated to the police being called?

She replayed Xenia’s outfit in her mind—classic black and white, a sharp, tailored suit. Yvonne glanced down at her own attire. Different cut, but also black and white, just a longer skirt.

“Jesus, that witch really was planning to hurt you. Her lackeys must’ve targeted the wrong woman!” Tina’s gasp snapped Yvonne back to her senses.

“She’s finished,” Yvonne said coldly.

Messing with Xenia would ruin Yolanda’s life one way or another.

Tina’s camera followed the scene, the footage shaky, and Yvonne suddenly caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the background.

That composed, quietly commanding presence—it could only be Marico.

Yvonne’s eyes widened, unable to look away.

He seemed to be surrounded by men—security, maybe?

She’d thought he was at the party for Xenia. Now that Xenia was hurt, she wondered if he’d even come home tonight.

After chatting with Tina for a bit, Yvonne hung up, a strange emptiness settling inside her.

It wasn’t just that Marico hadn’t come home. For the first time, she felt truly watched, as if someone dangerous was lurking in the shadows, and she was both scared and profoundly unsettled.

At that moment, she found herself wanting Marico around.

The realization startled her. Since when had she come to rely on him like this?
