Dinner was a nerve-wracking ordeal for Yvonne.
Ever since Marico sat down, the atmosphere at the table had turned icy cold. Everyone was silent, pretending to be deeply focused on their food.
“I need to use the restroom. Please, go ahead and enjoy your meal,” Yvonne whispered, getting up from her seat. She glanced at Nydia, hoping for backup.
Nydia sat frozen, not daring to move with the CEO sitting right beside her. All she could do was shake her head apologetically.
Left with no choice, Yvonne went to the restroom alone.
After Marico finally set down his fork, Grace stepped in to break the tension. “Mr. Hamilton, I’m sorry if the dinner wasn’t up to standard. Next time, I’ll make sure to properly thank you for your kindness.”
“You’re already outstanding at your job, there’s no need for extra gratitude. Dinner’s on me tonight—just remember to balance work and rest,” Marico replied calmly. He dabbed his mouth with a napkin, glanced at his watch, and stood up to leave.
“Have a good evening, Mr. Hamilton.” Grace and the others rose to see him off.
William followed after Marico, his suit jacket draped over his arm, both men heading in the direction of the restrooms.
Yvonne never expected she’d be ambushed by Marico outside the ladies’ room.
The moment she stepped out and saw him waiting in the corridor, she nearly jumped back inside in shock.
“I’ve already eaten. You’re not on the menu,” Marico said coolly, his deep voice edged with obvious annoyance.
Yvonne glanced over her shoulder, then at the empty hallway. “Mr. Hamilton, is there something you need?” Her tone sounded composed, but she stood rooted at the bathroom door—clearly wary, clearly on edge.
It was her first time being alone with him in public; Yvonne’s nerves were shot. Her pale cheeks were flushed with anxiety, and she twisted the hem of her blouse, wishing she could just vanish.
“Come here,” Marico ordered.
“We’re out in the open,” Yvonne replied in a voice barely above a whisper, her legs refusing to move. Her clear eyes darted around, searching for witnesses.
Marico, on the other hand, stood calm and collected, hands in his pockets, exuding effortless authority—a striking figure impossible to ignore.
